How'd you get the glowing outlines, anyway? And how do they change color, in sections, like that?

Heh.

I filled the area around them with color, then used a gaussian blur to pull it away.  The color shows through that.  It's just some stacked gradients.

The fur...took about an hour.  I did it with the mouse.
