Emoticons and Stars
« on: April 11, 2008, 09:15:00 AM »

Alright, so...

Emoticons and Stars...

I've rather put off making new emoticons and/or stars for the forum, here, so I'm gonna' see if any of you want to.

The requirements are as follows:

1. Size:  The stars are 16 x16 pixels, the Emoticons are 15 x 15.  They're close enough, you can make things either size, and we could use 'em in either spot.  (In case I've confused you, they have to be between 15 x 15, and 16 x 16...so they could be 15 x 16 if you really wanted)

2. Content:  They should fit in with what already exists...that is, they should sorta' match the running themes we've already got.  (I.E. Beastling/Pending Else)

3. Judging:  I'll probably not have too much trouble picking them, but if enough show up, I'll put some in a thread in the "Polls" part, and have ya'll pick 'em for me.  I'm lazy like that.

As always, of course, keep it clean, honest, and all that whatnot.

Most importantly, Have fun!

How would you suggest I deal with the scars on Kheros?
They're kinda hard to fit in, with these silly little pixels...

Well, I guess I could post what I've got...
These're actually kinda fun to make... they're small and simple, and don't consume a lot of time... but you still get to make stuff...

Well, either way:

Thief:

Ramjik:

Kheros:

Chad:

Beastling:

Hm... as a second thought... I think I'll make Kheros's face not so... fat...
Meanwhile, Ramjik's head seems to small.   :P
What you note when it's no longer on paint...

Hmm...I can't really make out Kheros, there.

Ya' made 'em all in Paint, huh.  Can't say I'm really surprised, but when I made the Ramjik emote, I made it in about 3 layers in Paint.Net....

I look forward to more...can't make a decision with just one entry, eh?

Heh.   ;D

I look forward to seeing those, Fox.

I don't have anything else but Paint right now, so yeah. (I keep intending to get Paint.Net...   :P  )

All right.... I'll add that to the changes, while making his face not look so fat...   :)

Er... does Beastling look kinda like a mouse to any one else?...   :P

Take your time, folks.  Not like I'm in any hurry here...

If I were, I'd have probably done this a year ago...

Yeah... I'd love to do that, but I know for a fact, that I'm even more swamped than you.

You sneaky jerk, you timed this so I wouldn't be able to didn't you?  [img]http://beastling.xepher.net/images/forum/ramjik.gif" alt=">:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>

Just for that I will create emotions so awesome that they DESTROY YOU! Nay, indeed.. they shall bring about the End of All Things!

What file format do you want that in? Something with a transparency bit I assume, for shaped icons that fit all the background colors?

.gif seems to be the default, so let's go with that.

And no, I didn't "time it" at all.  If I had, it would've showed up in the summer, when everybody has time.

Heh.   ;D

Hm... that seems like stuff you see in movies... they're ranting threats and then, "Oh, and what file format do you want that in?"   :P

Well, look forward to seeing them, despite.
.gif?
Huh... I might should change mine, then. Maybe at the end, when it matters.

Yours seem to have been .bmp, but now it says they've been moved or deleted...

Of course, you put backgrounds in yours, so .bmp works fine.  .gif supports transparency, which most other formats do not.  As far as I can remember, only .gif and .png currently offer transparency, and IE doesn't accept .png's transparency.

Huh...
Maybe I'll try some of both...
How does it become transparent?

Yeah, it says that 'cuz I took 'em out of my Photobucket, since I didn't actually need them there, yet...
It bothers me when things get crowded in there, so I'd been intending to figure the nature of things once they were deleted, anyway... now I might go through them all...
How did you find out that stuff?

What stuff?  The transparencies?  That information came mostly from experimentation--.png is the new one, and allows for partial transparency, but IE doesn't accept it unless you have the newest version of IE.  .gif has been around for awhile, but either a pixel is transparent, or it isn't.  There is no in-between.

I will admit, the folks at Xepher.net helped a good bit.
