Yeah...
I was in a car wreck yesterday. (That is, Oct. 2, 2007)
Apparently, it compressed the bottom edge of my spine, so it really hurts to do anything but just lay around. The doctors say that I'll recover...in a couple weeks.
This is going to inhibit my ability to get online, or to draw, for obvious reasons.
(For the record, everyone involved survived, and apparently I'm in the worst overall shape. That's weird, to me.)
-
Oh, wow..sorry to hear about that. :/ Car wrecks are scary for anybody..(except when you just kinda spin around..that was fun! =D) but I'm glad you're all okay, other than that. At least it wasn't worse, right? ^_^
-
Aw man that sucks. I hope I never get in a car wreck. Get better.
-
I really hope you feel better soon, too...
You've probably heard me say that, already, but it's still just as true.
-
Ouch, man... What happened?
Heal up soon...
-
I really hope you get better soon...
Saying it over and over again seems to be one of the few things I can do... :-/
-
Say it all you like.
I'm not really sure how it happened, as I was asleep. (I don't drive. Don't worry)
I'm recovering a bit faster than the docs predicted (which is good) so I can sit up pretty easy, now. About all I know is that the van I was in was hit by a bit Ford Truck. (Don't ask me for more info on the cars--I'm not big on makes and models.)
Everyone in the other car was able to walk away. My brother broke a bone (forgot which) near his heart, and we all 3 got a bit scraped up. Other than my spine, though, nothing else to report.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D :D :D
I'm happy to hear of your quick recovery. :)
Exactly what I've been praying for. ;D
Well, even if you were, I wouldn't understand a word of it.
I bet this doesn't make your dad like Fords anymore than he did, before.
What happened after that?
Did you guys wake up in the car, with nobody other than the other people invloved, or were there lights and sirens from medical aids and such? Did they rush you guys into a hospital?
-
Me, too. I hope you and your brother both get better soon! ^.^
-
Geez... heckuva way to wake up. Glad you're healing up some.
-
I'm keeping you three (you, your brother, and your mother) in my prayers. ;)
And, there are people that always care about you and are always wanting to do anything to help. :)
-
Especially a certain person above me. (chuckles)
-
Heh... maybe... :D
Wait... how are you behind me, and I above you?
This only further adds to my not knowing where I am...
-
Think of it in terms of the posts on this topic. Your post was more recent, hence it was "above" my post. There's an entire game devoted to that kind of idea... Is called the Person Above Me. You basically say something about the person above you, then the next person says something about you, and the next person says something about them, etc.
-
Strange, I played a game similar to that, only it was "the person below me," and you guessed something about whoever posted after you. Often, the results were comedic.
-
Heh. I think I've played that, too. It was kinda interesting. I'm not sure how well it ended up working, tho'.
-
Well, most people only said something if they thought it'd be funny. I think you'd need a larger group than we've got, though.
-
That does sound fun, though. :)
Perhaps later then, and, if that doesn't work, than we can alter it to make it fun for us, anyways.
Anyone agree?
I know, I was just being stupid. % P
-
Stupid? no.
Maybe later, but I know there aren't enough right now. It'd be too easy to guess at who'd post next.
-
I see...
How many people do you think would work?
-
at least 20 who visit regularly.
-
Aw... :P
Well... eventually? :)
How're ya' feeling, now?
-
That was a sudden topic change, though now we're back on the original topic of this thread.
I can move fairly easily, now. Heavy lifting is still a no.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Yeah... I guess that pretty was interesting. ;D
Well, it's good to hear of the improvement. :)
How much is considered "heavy lifting?"
-
Glad to hear you're not in horrible pain any more. (chuckles) Kindly take it easy so you don't hurt yourself all over again.
-
I'll try, though I'd rather be able to do stuff myself...
-
You'll be able to do that again, soon enough. Just take care, for now, okay?
And soon enough should be fairly soon, right now. ;)
(And it'll be becoming sooner and sooner, as long as you don't hurt yourself trying to do something potentially harmful.)
-
^
Bingo.
-
Sorry if I'm bothering you...
I just want you feeling better.
-
Bothering me? Nah. I appreciate your concern.
I've found a way I can draw! It's not so cozy and relaxed as I'm used to, but it works. PE #5 is in the works. Finally, things will happen!
-
Yay! :D
(Can't wait to see it!)
Well, there's enough of that to fill a room.
Are ya' able to be a bit more energetic, and at ease, now?
How much has your ability to move about improved, since the last question?
Is your back feeling much better? How much can you do, that you are aware of so far, without hurting because of it?
I'm really looking forward to your feeling better. :)
-
I can walk, and carry small objects. Still no backpack, of course. I can turn a bit more, too.
-
Huzzah!
-
Heh... :D
Glad to hear that.
How large/heavy would a small object be?
-
Up to a large book, nothing so grand as my 'pack.
-
Ah...
Well, you'll be up to that, soon. ;)
Have you gotten to the dentist, yet?
-
Nope. Dentists are all evil.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
They're not the greatest of people, no... :P
(I went for the giant bouncey-balls... ;D )
Well, are you going to get your teeth fixed up, soon?
At least they're not preventing you from eating as much as they had been at first... ;)
-
I probably should...but I haven't scheduled anything.
-
Heh. :)
Procrastinating? ;D
(Sounds like what I'd do... *Sh!!!*)
What has it been, now?
A bit more than three weeks...
How are you feeling, now?
-
Like a million dollars...
...Soft and fragile.
-
Heh. ':)
Well, better than you were, at first, right?
What's the extent of the damage on your spine, anyway?
I heard that you may have back problems, later on in life... my grandpa did, actually, because of compressed discs in his spine...
Do you think that might happen?
-
The doctor said I shouldn't have any lasting damage, and I seem to have recovered mostly at this point...
I suppose it's possible, still, but the doctor said it's unlikely, so I'll run with that.
-
Excellent. No lasting damage sounds good. Having a bad back kinda sucks, especially when you're young.
-
Indeed it does.
-
That's wonderful! :D
I was asking for that to happen... :)
Hey, it's been about a month, now.
Would you say the doctor's prediction of you health at this time was a good one?
-
Pretty good, at least.
-
All right... that makes that the accuracy of the prediction of no lasting harm more trustable. :)
So... you'd say that you could do most of the things you could before the accident?
-
Most, yes. Though I am terribly out of shape after a month of inability...
-
Well, you're recovering, and that'll be taken care of, soon. :)
You really have come a long way, fast, thouogh... in my opinion.
Just a little while I ago...
Would you say that it's been a quick recovery?
Or is that a silly question, because people that are feeling bad tend to feel the time pass more slowly?
-
Well, it must've been quick, as time has flown. Though, at the time, it felt like AGES.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
That's an interesting way to spell "though."
How long, do you think, it'll be untill you've fully recovered, and aren't bothered by your injuries anymore?
-
Only time will answer that.
-
(snaps her fingers) Well, tell time to hurry it up.
-
Heh...
Well, I'll keep praying for you. ;)
Gee... I've heard of some of the injuries you've had... and I don't think I've had any to compare.
Would you say that the wreck was the worst of them?
How deep did that one on your side get, anyway?
Do you mind discussing this, actually?
I don't recall many particularly bad injuries, for myself...
My finger got mashed in a doorway, once, and hasn't looked the same, since...
Um... road burn on my shoulder from a motorcycle incident...
When I was really little... neighbor's dog got my face and now I have a weird little scar on my cheek...
I suppose it's kinda interesting that, my whole life I've been a barefoot-nut, and the majority of my most memorable injuries have nothing to do with my feet.
-
Nah, nothing too bad for me. The car is certainly worst, if only 'cuz there wasn't anything I could really do about it.
-
Heh. :)
Well, it's good to know that you're feeling better, still.
What would you say your worse injury was, anyway?
Just curious.
-
My back, any day. Anything that makes it so I can't move is worse than things with which I can.
-
How about things that make it hurt to move?
Or, my Latin teacher's view on broken ribs. "It only hurts when you're alive."
-
Heh.
Well, I can see the logic in both... :)
I've never been left without the ability to move... the worst I've been in is the inability to move without pain.
I'm lucky as far as injuries are concerned... I've never had a broken bone, and nothing really serious... my mom only recalls having taken me to the hospital for "injuries" once, when I was one and there was something wrong with my eye, or something...
My mom says she's not sure which was my worst injury, that she recalls... the time the neighbor's rottwieler (is that how it's spelled?) bit my face, or the first time I put on high heels... maybe that's why I don't like 'em... or because they're just silly shoes, and I hate shoes to begin with. ;D
I was walking down the stairs and another dog got in the way, and I got set off balance. Mom says a big area behind my ear was black from where my head hit the stairs. That was all, though... from what I remember.
I get tons of little injuries, but nothing really major...
-
Excepting when I was very little and fell on my head (no joke folks, it was a 10 foot fall), I've never seen the inside of a hospital. Apparently I scared my parents pretty bad, but I was fine. Never broken a bone, sprained anything, etc.
-
With the obvious exception of the whole car accident thing, I've only been in there once for myself...visited people a couple times, though.
-
Ten feet, and on your head? Ow...
Where did you do that?
How long did you have to stay in the hospital for the car wreck, again?
Why were you in, otherwise?
I went to visit people, before... and I've been there with others I knew when they had to take part in stuff like surgeries, or something... mainly family members, really...
I don't really like being in/around hospitals... they make me feel claustrophobic, like my space has been invaded, nervous, and just uncomfortable...
-
I can relate to that feeling...
I was in there for only a couple of hours. We crashed sometime around 8-9 at night, and I was at home, asleep in my own bed, before midnight rolled around.
-
It must have felt really good to be in your own bed, again, and to be able to just fall asleep...
I'm really glad that you're okay.
-
Well, it was certainly reassuring to be in my own bed.
-
Blarg why did I just now notice this D:
That's terrible, I hope you recover without any permanent damage.
-
Heh...
So you couldn't fall asleep, very well?
It's pretty much over, now, and I'm extremely happy to say that it sounds like there'll be none of that, and that he's okay. :)
-
Indeed...though my spine still chooses to irritate me at inopportune moments.
I can do stuff...even haul firewood and such, so I guess I've recovered rather well.
Though, no. I can't say I had trouble sleeping...I just had trouble getting up.
-
Faith: I actually fell right inside my own home. See, there was this huge railing that separated the upper level of our house from the lower level. And it stretched all the way across, except where the stairs are. So the stairs are perpendicular to the railing, and there's two sets to connect the three floors.
My parents put wiring up to keep me from falling through the railings, but they ran out of netting for the last space between railings next to the stairs. So I, being a clever little tyke, slipped between those two railings and fell the depth of two floors, which they tell me was about 10 feet. And landed right on my head.
So now I have an excuse for being odd. Although I really shouldn't need one.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I wondered, because... well, I must of been thinking funny. :P
I really hope you feel recover, completely, soon... it's really good to hear that you're almost past all of that. I was really worried, when I'd found out...
You're in my prayers.
I wonder if my "stairs and high heels incident" counts as an excuse for my being odd...
