Ike is supposed to slam into our coast this weekend. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080910/ts_alt_afp/usweatherstormtexas;_ylt=ApBK_e6leuWjKhhanCoIcH1saMYA)
So long as we're not under mandantory evacuation, we'll be staying. It's a brick house, and sits on a raised foundation..so I think we'll be fine. It's a great photo-op for me..I just hope we don't have to pay for it in the long run.
-
Geez... when's it hitting? What lvl storm is it, do you know?
(Don't have time to see the link, more than just the peak I took, and didn't think to look, if it's actually on there... sorry.)
I hope that works out okay for you, though...
-
They're now saying it'll make landfall as a catagory 4 storm. They still don't know exactly where it will hit, but right now it might be Sargent. It's anywhere from Corpus Christi the north of Galveston, at the moment. Either way, Sweeny is right in the path of it. I'd like to try to ride it out, regardless.
-
Hm... 4... is not good... >.<
That's only one below Katrina... heh, you're gonna' have a little something to add to your list of experiences.
When you're telling your grandchildren stories about being "back in the day..." ;D
Best of luck, all in all. And take care.
*Good luck karma*
(It seems like a good enough reason to give karma, to me.)

Bah. I've been through worse. We used to live in a beach house. o_o I have a tornado picture in Bay City, too. (that was the day I decided I wanted to storm-chase. X3)
Thanks for the thoughts, btw. ^.^
-
Well, good luck with your hurricane problem.
That sounds kind of lame...
I mean, "good luck" , I hope your house isn't washed/blown into a neighboring state? That just seems kind of weak.
-
Yikes. Yeah. Everything I think of also sounds lame. Good luck, though. Don't get killed or I'll get you in yer sleep.
-
Eh..it's not lame. :3
Weell..they keep saying it's weakening..and my dad wants us to leave. We're not on the coastline, so I don't think we have anything to worry about, if the pressure keeps rising. I'unno. I doubt we'll even be able to leave if we wait much longer..but ah wells.
-
Heh.
Well... I'unno...
I sometimes think it would be kinda exciting to experience something like that...
Yes, I'm one of those. ;D
So long as everyone's okay, it could be fun...
Hm... is that weird? :P
-
We're fine. Just thought I'd let you all know....
-
Good to know.
-
Now that I have the time..more details:
Sweeny/Brazoria faired well. There were just a few downed trees, back home..and the power is out. Houston, however, wasn't so fortunate. Ike battered the city with unexpected force. The coastal areas, such as Galveston & Surfside, are almost completely underwater. Crystal Beach, Kemah, and other low-lying coastal areas are gone.
Seeing what all has happened around us, it really is miraculous that we made it out with only a power outtage & a couple of fallen trees.
-
Yeah everybody is alive
Well everyone i know in that area (That only includes fox and his people)
:)
-
Well, thank God that you got out of it O-K, at least.
I hope evacuations and other emergency measures were taken to mitigate the damage to other people's lives as well.
Still, that's a lot of folks who are going to be homeless for a while.
-
Yeah...
I didn't even know that storm was happening until Fox said it was coming her way...
Gone? How far under?
But yeah, it's great to know you're okay.
-
By "gone" I mean blown away or flattened.
Well, we're home..& our power is back on. There's a lot of uprooted trees, but as far as debris & structural damge goes, all is well. =3 I was gonna get some pictures, but there's not much to photograph around here.
-
Wow. This is one of the reasons I like living in the mountains.
We never get hurricanes, and we only get a weak tornado every few years. It lasts a couple of hours at the maximum.
It's worth a few blizzards, icestorms and dust storms for that, I think.
