Alright, so...
Emoticons and Stars...
I've rather put off making new emoticons and/or stars for the forum, here, so I'm gonna' see if any of you want to.
The requirements are as follows:
1. Size: The stars are 16 x16 pixels, the Emoticons are 15 x 15. They're close enough, you can make things either size, and we could use 'em in either spot. (In case I've confused you, they have to be between 15 x 15, and 16 x 16...so they could be 15 x 16 if you really wanted)
2. Content: They should fit in with what already exists...that is, they should sorta' match the running themes we've already got. (I.E. Beastling/Pending Else)
3. Judging: I'll probably not have too much trouble picking them, but if enough show up, I'll put some in a thread in the "Polls" part, and have ya'll pick 'em for me. I'm lazy like that.
As always, of course, keep it clean, honest, and all that whatnot.
Most importantly, Have fun!
-
How would you suggest I deal with the scars on Kheros?
They're kinda hard to fit in, with these silly little pixels...
Well, I guess I could post what I've got...
These're actually kinda fun to make... they're small and simple, and don't consume a lot of time... but you still get to make stuff...
Well, either way:
Thief:
Ramjik:
Kheros:
Chad:
Beastling:
Hm... as a second thought... I think I'll make Kheros's face not so... fat...
Meanwhile, Ramjik's head seems to small. :P
What you note when it's no longer on paint...
-
Ooo..pixel-art from Faith! =D They look neat. x3
I gotta get some stuff done, too....but I found a nifty tool in FireWorks that I got obsessed with..>.>
-
Hmm...I can't really make out Kheros, there.
Ya' made 'em all in Paint, huh. Can't say I'm really surprised, but when I made the Ramjik emote, I made it in about 3 layers in Paint.Net....
I look forward to more...can't make a decision with just one entry, eh?
-
Heh. ;D
I look forward to seeing those, Fox.
I don't have anything else but Paint right now, so yeah. (I keep intending to get Paint.Net... :P )
All right.... I'll add that to the changes, while making his face not look so fat... :)
Er... does Beastling look kinda like a mouse to any one else?... :P
-
I had to zoom way in on Kheros. >.>
Nah..he doesn't look like a mouse, to me. XP
Aaaaaaand now that my computer is no longer a crispified paperweight....I guess I can give it a shot. ~<3
-
Heh. ;D
I was gonna' work on that, last night, but didn't get around to fixing it... :P
-
Take your time, folks. Not like I'm in any hurry here...
If I were, I'd have probably done this a year ago...
-
Hehe. ;D
Good, 'cuz this weekend, I intend to get around to some other stuff... (I have a whole poetry book I'm supposed to finish.) O.o
-
Yeah... I'd love to do that, but I know for a fact, that I'm even more swamped than you.
You sneaky jerk, you timed this so I wouldn't be able to didn't you? [img]http://beastling.xepher.net/images/forum/ramjik.gif" alt=">:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>
Just for that I will create emotions so awesome that they DESTROY YOU! Nay, indeed.. they shall bring about the End of All Things!
What file format do you want that in? Something with a transparency bit I assume, for shaped icons that fit all the background colors?
-
.gif seems to be the default, so let's go with that.
And no, I didn't "time it" at all. If I had, it would've showed up in the summer, when everybody has time.
-
Heh. ;D
Hm... that seems like stuff you see in movies... they're ranting threats and then, "Oh, and what file format do you want that in?" :P
Well, look forward to seeing them, despite.
.gif?
Huh... I might should change mine, then. Maybe at the end, when it matters.
-
Yours seem to have been .bmp, but now it says they've been moved or deleted...
Of course, you put backgrounds in yours, so .bmp works fine. .gif supports transparency, which most other formats do not. As far as I can remember, only .gif and .png currently offer transparency, and IE doesn't accept .png's transparency.
-
Huh...
Maybe I'll try some of both...
How does it become transparent?
Yeah, it says that 'cuz I took 'em out of my Photobucket, since I didn't actually need them there, yet...
It bothers me when things get crowded in there, so I'd been intending to figure the nature of things once they were deleted, anyway... now I might go through them all...
How did you find out that stuff?
-
What stuff? The transparencies? That information came mostly from experimentation--.png is the new one, and allows for partial transparency, but IE doesn't accept it unless you have the newest version of IE. .gif has been around for awhile, but either a pixel is transparent, or it isn't. There is no in-between.
I will admit, the folks at Xepher.net helped a good bit.
-
Heh.
Well, I was curious as to how you found out those pictures of mine were deleted, and what file-type they were.
But that's interesting, too. ;D
And how is it transparent? Why are some transparent and some not? I figure people make them that way, but how?
-
I can tell they're deleted, 'cuz all I can see in the post where you'd placed them is a big white box saying "This file has been moved or deleted."
I knew they were .bmp, 'cuz that's what Paint saves them in by default, and that's what you said you'd made them in.
You need a program made for it to make them transparent. Paint.Net works, as do most. MSPaint won't, though. If you'd rather, you could just assign it a random otherwise-unused color as the background, and I could just edit it out sometime, if I use it.
-
Oh...
When I looked there, they were still visible... >.<
Huh...
What program would you have to use to make an animated image?
-
FireWorks for me. Flash and PhotoShop are capable, but I find 'em difficult.
Well......shoot. For lack of a better word. EVERY image hosting site I use is down or won't support emotes. So I guess I'll edit this when I don't feel like punching the wall due to the internet's evil.
-
Microsoft .gif animator works. I know it used to be available for free on the internet, but I don't know if it's still free, or whatever.
Flash is difficult, and I've never worked with PhotoShop, so I'll just take your word on that, Fox.
Never even heard of FireWorks...
-
It's basically the same thing as Flash, but with less features. You can animate....and that's about it. I tend to just add any sound clips via Movie Maker.
Ah, old memories of hating PhotoBucket. 'Twas a last resort.
Obviously, we have very different emote styles. This is the only one I've had time to make..but I'll try to get some more done.
-
Heh. :)
Yeah... mine look like something out of a child's bed-time story book... >.<
But yours is neat. :)
Well, I haven't heard ot any of them...
However, when I've the time, I may try to look those things up. :)
I've made a K'os one, but I'm not gonna' put it up 'till later... like when I'm done with it... I want to try to make it animated, if I can figure it out.
And, maybe I'll try to get Paint. net, again, too...
-
Hmm...
-
Hehe... it sounds like my plans might seem slightly disastrous, or something... :P
-
Huh?
-
Heh. ;D
I was talking about my plan to make animated emoticons, and your reaction seemed a bit amusing, to me. I guess it was just the way I read it.
Sorry, I say strange things... >.< :P
-
Here's mine with PNG transparency
(http://www.forumsigs.com/users/Felblood/Angry1.png)
I had a red and orange sigil, too, but it seems to be corrupted.
Nuts.
-
Look good. I'dve liked to see the other, as well, but so it goes.
There is a disadvantage to .png transparency, though; IE doesn't yet support it. FF and just about every other browser does, though.
-
Huh...
Well, not like I have a choice, there, so I guess I don't have to worry.
What does IE do to transparency in images?
-

What version do you have? Mine supports it. o.O
-
Eh, they must've integrated it. I use FF, so I just know that last time I checked, it didn't.
It's not a big deal, so I haven't worried about it too much.
It used to replace anything that was supposed to be transparent with solid white.
-
Hm... hey, how do you make the left side of Vapyr's head/face/hair and all that?
-
Huh?
-
Well, you always draw Vapyr to the right, from what I've seen, anyway... so I wondered what his left looked like. ?
-
...like you're looking at him from the other side?
-
Yeah. ':D
-
I found an un-corrupted version of the RO sigil. It's actaully the original, and the other two are re-colors, so I really wanted to upload this one.
Here's hoping I win!
-
Heh. ;D
RO?
Hm...
Well, these are some of my newer attempts. The rest are still in for adjustments, fixing and finishing...
K'os
(http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p292/Faith39_2006/Rithiel.jpg)
Rithiel
-
He dubbed them all after the color used...I'm guessing Red-Orange, but I could be wrong.
Felblood: I note that the background is white, there, and not transparent like the other two. Is that just the way that one is in the uncorrupted version, or were you considering leaving it like that?
Faith: Rithiel's hair is really crowded in, there, isn't it? Hmm...still Identifiable, though, so it may just be me...
-
Hm... it seems that Rithiel's appearance, in my emoticon, changes a lot depending on the background color, I think, so that may have some affect. (In the grey background, she's pretty scary-looking... :P And yes, this is mainly stuff I should have mentioned earlier, but just didn't... >.< )
It is a little much in my opinion, too, but I guess I forgot about that... (it was late and I was thinking I just had to get something in, after not adding anything for so long... ::) ) I'll take that to mind when I'm finished up with 'em. Thanks. :)
I was especially irritated with the results of the ear, though. :P
Do you think I did that okay?..
-
Rithiel's kind of hard to see, with all the orange brown and pink right together.
The background is supposed to be transparent, but this flash drive is acting up. It's only a few months old! I hope those library computers haven't viruesed it up.
-
Yeah... do you think that maybe a darker background might help with that?
-
It might. The trouble is, he's essentially blue and orange, so there's really nowhere on the color wheel that he contrasts with consistently.
-
She. And I think blue could... (I haven't tried yet.)
-
When I draw Rith on a background, I generally use either black or a dark blue. (Like the cast page)
Nothing else contrasts well at all, especially if you consider that the rest of her attire is light blue and light yellow.
-
Heh...
All right - attempt later.
Thank ya'll. :)
I've begun to think about it, and this could go on for quite a while, couldn't it?
Ah well, it's fun. =J
-
It can go on as long as needs be...or at least, till people stop submitting.
Yeah...
-
(http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq135/Gryphor/Scaredchad.gif)
There is one
[img]http://beastling.xepher.net/images/forum/ramjik.gif" alt=">:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>
-
Neat, Gryphor. :)
That turned out really well. ;)
My attempt for Chad didn't turn out so well, I don't think... :P
-
Uh, Gryph? Did you make that Chad, there? That...is impressive. I tried my hand at Chad once, and it came out as a blurry white blob with eyes.
You will never, ever see that, FYI.
