Ask your questions about Pending Else here.
I figure this one should be busy...eventually.
-
Yeah, about that tombstone-link, is it supposed to be the one... I, mention before?
-
Nope. You'll see later.
-
We won't see what it's about until later, correct? Well, I suppose it's better that way.
-
Well, the way I have it planned, most of the questions the layout itself brings up will be answered fairly early...except for the title, anyway. That one will take a -long- time to completely explain...
-
Yeah, I remember asking you about the title... now I get why you seemed like you didn't want to say. 'Course, it was kinda expected you would react that way - I always ask questions that I can't know the answerers for!
-
I suspect if I'd tried to explain the title then, you still wouldn't get it, anyway.
Suffice it to say it's complicated.
-
Ah...
So you've really had 3395 visitors already!?! :o
...
Wow...
No, wait -- it's the same box as the one on Beastling and it says the same things as Beastling's (so far) so Beastling is the site with 3395 visitors -- right?
??
Well, wow anyways...
-
Actually, that means that between EVERY page on both sites, I've had 3395 visitors.
So even if someone were to look -only- at the extras page, or only at PE, then they'd show up there.
Though I'm not sure if those are actually unique hits, or if the same person could account for almost every one of those.
-
Strange... strange and interesting.... (to a weirdo like me, anyways.)
Does the person in the picture have his face covered up with his jacket? Is there a reason for that I'm gonna have to wait to find out?
-
Quote:Is there a reason for that I'm gonna have to wait to find out?
You answered your own question. ;)
There's a reason, and you'll have to wait to find out.
It'll be awhile, though.
-
*Sigh* I brought it apon myself... now there's another question that'll be driving me nuts untill I find out!!! :P
I get very interested in things very easily... and ask a lot of questions...
Did you put another layer on the icons for an outline? If you did so recently - cool, much easier to see now... if not - I should get my eyes checked... oh wait - I kinda already did! I got bored at a store and they had one of those posters with the letters on it, so I tested myself - yay for 20-20 vision!!! (Boo for not knowing the correct word for those letter-chart things!)
-
The correct word is "eye-chart" ;)
It's nice to know someone's interested...I still hate my current update schedule(s) though.
As outlines go, yes. I added them so it'd look better. I think I like the end result, so I'll probably do the same to any other buttons I add there.
-
Ah yes, that's the word! I knew that... ::)
Good idea -- they stand out better and have a nicer appearance. ;D
I'd be surprised if I wasn't interested... and I'm sure other people are - people don't always say what they think. ;)
Have you had any other ideas for the button/pictures? Also, is the button for Extras actually a character? :)
-
The Extras button...well, that would have to be another one of those "Yes, but you'll learn more later" things.
And yes, I've had a few. I won't be adding them until the ones that are already there are finished, though.
-
Kay!
Am I not allowed to know which ones, yet?
-
Uh...that should probably say "know", but I'll leave it for now.
And no, but only 'cuz I'm too lazy to try to decide which ones to use.
-
Oops, hehe... I'll change that, thanks. :)
I wouldn't say lazy. Sometimes people just can't make up their minds, because they're not sure, I know I've done that, lots of times. ;)
-
I like how the pictures of the characters are links to a larger picture and info. :)
Kheros looks cool. ;)
And I like the star with eyes and wonder about the weapon on "The Mysterious's" shoulder - some kind of rocket, cannon, thing?
Will there be a lot of characters there eventually?
-
Well, I hope to keep it more up-to-date than Beastling's Cast page...if I pull that off, then yes, there will be a lot of cards in there.
EDIT: Yeah, that's a pretty good description of that weapon. Most people would call it a "bazooka," though.
-
A bazooka! I remember hearing about those! I just didn't know what they were then... now I do! :D
I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off. ;)
-
If the comic itself is any indication, I might not pull it off.
I really should ink the next page, it's been sketched for over a month.
-
Hey - I'm sure it'll get along when robotics is over - especially when Summer comes!
-
Summer...summer is a dream.
Okay, not really. But come summer I'll need to get a job, apply for college, study for college, plan ahead, and all manner of other things...summer is hardly better than the school year, if ya' ask me.
That doesn't mean I'm not lookin' forward to it, though.
-
I forgot... :'(
I hope that turns out well, with all that, for you...
If things go awry... this Summer wont be great in my opinion, either....
But there is always the upside. The days are longer, you can go swimming, you don't have to shuffle through the snow to get anywhere, the berries start becoming ripe, the sun shines bright and warm, it's a lot easier to run, you can stay outside for as long as you like, my parents wont yell at me for not wearing my shoes and jacket anymore... yeah, Summer's fun! :)
-
Yay, Bright side!
I'm looking forward to the summer, I'm just trying to keep things in perspective for myself.
-
Yea, that's a good idea.
I still can't wait to go swimming!!! :D
-
Heh...I can, I'm weird like that.
Though...Back on topic, please!
-
*Laugh!* :D
Well - it's really a way of over dramatizing something when people say "I can't wait..." if we couldn't wait, we'd just do it already... which would be weird...
I think walks are the best in Summer, though!
Sorry, on topic, now :-[ --- are you gonna make a forum for Pending Else, or connect this forum to Pending Else?
-
I'll connect this one...there's no need to seperate them. That'd probably either kill them both, or kill me.
-
Oh... let's not have that happen! Nobody would be able to tell us what happens next in Beastling!!! And even if they could, they wouldn't be able to do it as well...
How, though, would it kill them both?
-
People trying to spread their attention over 2 different boards tend to get bored with one, then the other, and they both die.
-
Oh, well that's not fun, either.
Are there going to be backgrounds from the characters in PE, too?
-
Eventually...
-
That'll be neat!
Any ideas for who, yet?
Oh, and are that one guy and his sister twins? They look very similar - though that could just be the fact that they're related, people used to think my sister and I were twins all the time - when we were much younger, though...
-
Would I tell you if they were? Anyway, try not to use the names of characters I haven't introduced...you'll confuse people even more. ;)
-
*Laugh!* :D
Okay ;)
-
I've got to stop letting you figure out who all these people are...it'll give you an unfair advantage.
-
Aw - but it's fun! I like knowing about your characters!!! :D
Otherwise, I see them a lot and have no clue who the are. :-/
And I'll stop telling people!!!
On purpose...
If I have any questions about them, I'll ask you in a PM, or something.
-
well...fair enough.
-
Yay!!! :D
*Apologies for possibly seeming weird.*
:)
-
Seeming?
-
Okay - maybe I should apologise for being weird.
-
Nah, we're used to it, at this point.
Besides, weird is normal.
-
If weird is normal, and normal is weird, then isn't the whole world normal... because it's not?
-
yeah, that's the short and long of it.
-
Strange, very strange...
Which is normal! :D
Sorry, I'll stop straying from topic, now... :-[
-
i think she knows to much and we should hire a moufia to remove her from this place.
-
Two points, G.
1. I know your Firefox has spell-check, because I updated it for you yesterday. Use it.
2. Don't be a jerk.
-
Heh...
Well, I would ask you if you even had a "moufia" to hire, but...
-
Tsk, G. I think you, of all people, know more than she does.
Well, maybe Bloodreaper knows more, too, but I'm never sure. Legion might, too, but he's silent about what he knows...
-
Okay but i can't remember there names
-
...
And all because of circumstance... :P
Okay, not all, but a lot.
Either way, I usually have to find out by myself, anymore! He won't say anything, now...
Like Kheros's tomb-stone...
Okay, he said some, but only when I found out, so by then I already knew, it was just confirmation.
Heh. I... sometimes do and sometimes don't....
*Shrugs.*
Oh, and while we're on spelling...
There should be their, in that one, Gryphor. ;D
-
I remember some things you told me about Mara, but that was under a verbal NDA.
That was back when we where just running our worldbuilding projects past each other for review and revision. PE hadn't really coaleced into a comic yet; it was just one of several ideas that were trying to get themselves developed.
I don't think the idea that became Beastling was even around yet then. --Not on paper anyway, and most of your ideas get onto a paper before you realise they even exist.
I wish I took notes that consistently.
-
Heh. I do find it fascinating to try and follow my own lines of thought, sometimes. But yeah, PE's concept came first, but Beastling was what I wanted to do, first.
So, you actually remember that conversation, then? I'd wondered. The NDA still holds, though...
-
...
NDA?
Hm... the stuff I know mostly comes from right about when you gave me the address to Beastling, or rather a bit after. Then you got all secretive because it would spoil the plot. :P
Meh, probably for the better...
-
Definitely for the better...
NDA is Non-disclosure Agreement.
-
Oh. Heh.
That must be a rather widely-used term, 'cuz now my ads are full of it. ;D
Does that mean that you might have something, too, Bloodreaper, or was that just then?
Grs. I rarely find out ahead of time, anymore. I have to guess and piece hints and details togther. :P
Meh. I guess it's more like a good book, like that. :)
-
I've got a comic that I've been meaning to make for years. Before we discovered WEB comics even.
I've started it a few times, but it never comes out looking good enough to me, so I tend to start making excuses and never do the next strip.
If you start making excuses before you ever actually upload the first strip, should you even start?
Most of the avatars I use come from that project or others.
-
You should totally start, even if it's only working ahead to make a buffer.
Want more (probably better) reasons?
http://lastres0rt.blogspot.com/2008/08/7....omic.html#links (http://lastres0rt.blogspot.com/2008/08/7-reasons-you-need-to-start-your-comic.html#links)
While I will cede the point that Keslensky isn't an expert, she still has valid points, Blood.
-
If you have a plan for one you should definitely start it.
People's first few strips usually aren't that great in appearances, from the ones that I've read, when compared to their later ones... people get better, why should you be any different?
And, you're great at thinking up lines just on a random and normal basis. That's kinda one of the main things, I think...
Also you can draw well, and have a lot of characters, which nobody'll know about unless you share 'em.
I would read it... ;D
-
Not know what it would be about, or what sort of content it might have you're going to commit to reading it, just to get me to make it?
That doesn't strike me as terribly wise. What if it's a Sci-Fi Fantasy story, rife with ultra-violence, and bloodshed?
-

Well then, I'd have to accuse you of horning in on my territory. ;)
Seriously though, there's a market for almost any kind of story, done right. You'd be surprised.
(btw, Thanks for the link, Dragyn!)
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Aw, what's wrong with that? :P
I think I know you well enough to be able to expect at least some of the basic content. '=J
Heh!
I like your avatar. ;D
Well, hiya'.
Have some welcoming karma. ^_^
-
I wouldn't really call Last Resort "ultra-violent".
Definitely violent, but not in an intense, gratuitous, or continuous way.
Build-up, plot and characterization are really the corner stones of your work. The violence is just there to bring out the different aspects of your characters for the reader to see, unless I am completely mis-reading it.
Strangely enough, that's actually more like what I was planning to do, but with a much broader scope, and a slower rate of introducing new characters (seriously, your cast page is tiny compared to your actual cast. How is the new reader supposed to absorb all these identities?). One way or another, your turf is mine.
Granted, I plan on more graphic violence, with a more decompressed art style, particularly around the fight scenes, but Last Resort does have a lot in common with what I was planning to do.
--and yeah, I already read Last Resort because D told me to. It's good stuff.
Edit:Removed a rogue line-break, which crept into the post, unnoticed.
-
Hey, useful links should be exploited.
And while I do see some similarities 'tween you guys' work, they're different enough to draw different crowds. While sure, some of the audience might spill over, I'm pretty sure there'd be 'nuff to go around.

I'm not concerned about competition so much at this point just because of how unusual the comic is in general, anyway. A couple similar comics just makes mine look more normal.
-
So, it's like joining a DnD club, in high school; between the guy who eats glue, the kid who keeps telling anti-semitic jokes, and the girl with the fangs, whatever quirks you might have are completely camouflaged.
Plus, you get some weird friends.
-
Sure, we can go with that...
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I'm not entirely sure how that ties together... but... yeah... XD
So long as I don't end up eating glue. ;D
I think there are reasons I don't heard about that kind of club, at HS, any, if that was the situation...
Weird friends're okay, though...
-
I heard that they got rubbed out, politically, after I left.
--Even after we quit playing DnD for Raza Centari, still the crazy Spanish teacher persecuted us. There is something seriously wrong with that woman.
--And we didn't actually have a glue eating kid. The other two are actually perfectly true, though.
The girl in question apparently got dental surgery and braces, which straitened her teeth right out. Probably for the best, as people like the Neo-nazi guy (who was also the resident Monty Python quoter) tended to make an annoying number of vampire jokes. I mean, I was only around her when we were at meetings and I got sick to death of them.
I don't know how she put up with it.
-
*Snrk*
Politically rubbed out?
How/why?
Hehehe... Is that the same Spanish teacher as is there, today?...
Huh... that's too bad... fangs would've been awesome. XD
I'd've kept 'em...
-
Short, spactic, asian woman, with curly hair? Plump and culturally enamored enough to usually be mistaken for Mexican?
Tabletop RPG clubs are generally seen as a breeding ground for school shootings and satanic, suicide cults, without adequate justification. When they were quietly informed they could no longer hold their meetings in classrooms, at lunch, or under the supervision of the teacher that started the group, they simply dissolved. They didn't ban the game outright, just strangled it with piles of petty rules.
I feel kind of sorry about that, since finding a place where even a weirdo like me is welcomed, so long as he's willing to roll some dice, really helped me get through high-school without killing anyone.
-
It's sad how very, very stupid administration is at its finest...
Though, Uh..
Topic, people!
The next page of PE is forthcoming. It's inked, and mostly colored. Id've worked on it more, today, but Blood pointed out (intelligently) that I should probably do homework instead of comic.
So, homework is done, comic next.
-
Heh...
(Yup. Sr. H., here, I guess.
That's depressing... you'd think those kinds of cults or groups wouldn't join up in a school-environment like that, they'd want to be more selective and have private meetings, to prevent being caught... any way that kind of club would be used, then, might be to invite other members, as they come into it, but they can do that in or out of the meetings, just as easily.
I'm pointing out obvious things now... that happens when something irritates me... >.<
I don't think I'd have the heart to kill someone else, on purpose. Though my clumsiness may be considered an uncontrollable a weapon of mass destruction...)
Heh... oops. ':D
Neat. :D
Ya' think it'll be up, this weekend?
-
...
-
So, how many soldiers are in this vault, anyway?
We've seen just 3 named characters, but there was mention of soldiers.
-
Wait... the white and red guy was named?...
-
Hmm...
Well, there are quite a few, though I don't think I ever arbitrated a definite number...
As far as named characters go, though, I think there are 8, though I could be missing a few.
Uh...White and Red guy?
-
The guy who clawed the door and spoke to Mara, with a few of those wrappings.
He named Gilgrim, for everyone...
When do we get to find out who that guy is?
-
Oh, that guy.
Next update?
-
Okay, we didn't hear his name, but he obviously has one.
I mean, even the map salesmen in this comic has a name and a back story. D doesn't grok "Characters as Plot Device". He deals in characters that are characters first, and plot devices, somewhere down around fourth.
To create a character just to deliver a few ominous lines is just not his style.
Plus the guy ripped up a door. You rip up a steel door in your grand entrance and you get a name. It's in the rules.
-
Well, yes. But, the map salesman in question ended up with a rather deep backstory...
I suppose there is some merit to the steel door thing...which ruleset are we working under, though?
-
Action Movie RPG v1.5
BESM would probably be closer to what we really need, but it doesn't have any rules for who gets a name, and what powers/saves it grants them.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Looks like I missed enough to make this conversation seem really, um, different. XD
Heh. There's an deep back-story to the map salseman? Will he be showing up a lot as a result?
-
Doop-de-doo...

From over here... way over here...

Okay.

Topic, Blood.
On topic...
Next update forthcoming. I just have to get Vista to let me add new fonts, and all will be well.
-
We are asking questions, and discussing the answers or lack thereof.
Nothing off topic here.
S'not our fault your comic is so build up heavy that that you can't actually answer any of the questions, without breaking the suspense.
Might have been better to create threads for plot speculation, art discussion, etc. and let the questions you could actually answer crop up naturally.
Oh, no. The G-Men have come for me now.

... O.o
Why are the G-men wanting to talk to me?[/]
I saw the upate. ^_^
Are the wrapping things on K'sk relevant to anything, in particular?...
Hm... so... what is this topic in comparison to the other active topic in here?
-
I believe the original plan was that we would ask D questions in this thread and chat/speculate about the comic ourselves in the other one.
However, questions naturally came up in both threads blurring the lines. It might have been better/more organic to have a single thread for each comic, where questions and wild speculation could grow up together, with the added bonus of there being a clear signal to the forum lurkers when the new comic has arrived.
I have seen this technique deployed in other places, and it tends to result in less confusion, and keeps new updates from derailing discussion of the previous ones.
It's not too late to change our format, if the boss wants to make it happen.
What do you say D, do you want to change things up, now that we're finally codifying what the current system means?
-
Well, I rather expected people other than me to start thread for each comic, eventually.
I may start doing it myself if nobody else does...
Page 12, go!
