Title: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 09, 2007, 10:36:00 AM
It's that time of year again, unfortunately. Really...where has 2007 gone?? Seems like only a few weeks ago it was Christmas. :/ Oh well though.

So...doing anything special for Halloween? I don't normally go to parties and whatnot..but since our church stopped doing the Fall Festival there's really no other option if I wanna dress up and act silly. So! My cousin and his family are planning a party-type thing that Breanna(other cousin) & I are going to. I'm going to dress up as a dragon. XD I have the gloves & wings, and I'll be wearing my pirate top from a couple years back. I'll likely have on my PIRATE BOOTS as well. Like a dragon-pirate, I guess. XD Anywho. I still need to get a masquerade mask I saw at Party ARC that looked nifty..mabye some face-paint. Still debating on that. I'll either have to sew a crest myself or buy some silver horns..if they're still at the party place when I go back.

I though about taking Merlin & dressing him up as an itty bitty wizard..but my aunt & cousin hate lizards. XD

So that's what I'm doing. ^.^

*Laugh!!!*   :D

That sounds cool   ;)
Pirate dragon.... I want to see that, actually....

I'm afraid I'm not doing anything.
I have been distracted, and didn't get very prepared...
But I can always do what I did last year.
(Find a shirt and make adjustments.)
That's actually pretty easy. Maybe I'll try to make this year more challenging, though... hack off the sleeves and add stuff like crazy...

I was going to make a kind of Renaissance-thing. I wouldn't know what to call it... it'd just be fun to make.

What do I do?
Um...
I get candy and share it with my friends!!!

I don't tend to either... but if my friends are there it can be fun. That's really the only reason I'd want to go to a party (my friends would be there) that I can think of.

Post by: Fox on October 09, 2007, 03:00:00 PM
Yeah.
Renaissance....love that era. X3 I wanna go to the Ren-fest this year, but I dunno if we can make it. The great part, though, is I can wear my Halloween costume there, too. XD 'Cause the boots are actual boots an' not just costume boots..so I think they'll fair okay through all that mud. >.>

Anywho! Not as big on the candy this year since it's at my aunt & uncle's house. Nah, not candy. MEAT! MEEEEEAAAAAT! *drool* XD
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 09, 2007, 03:06:00 PM
O.O
Um.... meat?
Some sort of Halloween-werewolf, or something?

Heh... that's good.
I wonder what a ren-fest is like.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 09, 2007, 03:10:00 PM
Yeah. If there's a party there, my uncle's sure to fire up the grill. =3

The ren-fest down here is pretty neat. Though, it's still really hot around here in the October/November months. We're waiting until Thanksgiving, if we do go. The best thing about it is it's like...a cosplay for everything. I've seen Maleficent, Cat in the Hat, Shrek, Jack Sparrow, even Darth Vader among the centuars, kings, dragons & princesses. XD

That (a barbeque) can be a lot fun.   ;D

Who on Earth is Fox Mulder?

I know this sounds really dumb, but... did I spell barbeque right?
Title: Re: Halloween!

(sings in minor key)  Happy Birthday to meeeeeee....  (not yet, but you may sing on Halloween)

Stupid PSP wouldn't keep me logged in for some reason....

Anywho! Yeah, you spelled it right. =3 And Mulder! From The X-Files! =D Love that show. <3

So hard to type on this contraption....

edit- Halloween birthday? Awesome! XD Happy birthday then. ^_^

I don't think I've seen X-Files....
Neat!
Happy Birthday to ya' then.   ;D
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 10, 2007, 07:39:00 AM
I think the Sci-Fi channel is the only channel that airs it anymore. :/ Pity it had to come to an end in the first place. Bah, though. Once Mulder left & Dogget & Reyes took over it really wasn't worth watching anymore. T.T The finale was good, though. At least he came back for that. Despite the bad 9th season, I would like to buy all the box sets at Hasting's and put 'em all on my PSP. XD Good for long trips. Anywho. It's (er..was) a really good show filled with all that paranormal goodness. Mulder's great 'cause he's just a big a conspiracy theorist as I am. X3 Scully's a skeptic, but her hair is awesome. (XD) Much love for the shapeshifters in the later seasons, too. =3

Now look what ya' did..you got me going on a ramble. XD

She gets lotsa' people off on rambles.  She's good at it.

No fan of X-files, myself.  There's enough people conspiring against me in my own household...

I don't watch TV.  (shrugs)
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 11, 2007, 08:14:00 AM
Honestly, I don't either. Aside from a few select shows I must watch, the only thing I really watch on TV are old reruns of shows like that. TV today just doesn't impress me. :/

Invader Zim as an exception, the 90's had the best shows.
Title: Re: Halloween!

*Laugh!!!*   :D
I guess I do that...   :)

I usually don't wwatch T.V.
If it were up to me, at my house, I'd only watch the occasional movie, but not the shows, on a general basis. Most shows are dumb.   :P
My sister seems to like the dumbest of that dumb stuff, too...

I don`t wacth so much TV. I`m usually on my PSP. I only wacth a few shows like Lost and some anime shows. As for halloween I`m thinking about going as the grim reaper.

Sounds interesting.   :)

*Laugh!!!*   :D
(Looking forward to it.   ;)  )

I should put something Halloween-like in here...   :)

Oh! A new thing to draw!
Is it okay if I think up lots of subjects, and then not expect any quick reactions.   :-/

*Spelling adjustments.*
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 12, 2007, 09:31:00 AM
I don't think it'd be good to put up too many subjects at once.  Try just leaving one for a month, then switching.

Maybe more often than that, but you get the idea.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 12, 2007, 09:07:00 PM
Yeah... I see.
But you've got to expect a Halloween / any holiday one!
Right?...

Well, if nobody does it, oh well...
Hm... I ended out putting up the Halloween decorations my mom brought out of storage, today.
(They were only taking up space, and she asked me to take care of it.)
Now, there is a balloon chandelier/spider over the table.
It's weird...
I should take away all but the orange ballon (so it matchexs its legs) and draw on it with a permanent marker so it's more spider-like.

Hey, what's the strangest Halloween costume anyone here has seen?
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 13, 2007, 11:13:00 AM
Hm..I don't really know. OO! Yeah, at church a few years ago one of the leaders dressed up as "Dr Pepper". XD In a dr.'s outfit & a pepper for a stethascope. XD

That is bizzarr...

Hm...
Just what have I seen?
There was... um... well...
I'm afraid the costumes I'm thinking of aren't that crazy.   ;D
They're just interesting.

My mom has seen a roll of tiolet paper.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Spirit Wolf on October 14, 2007, 04:55:00 AM
The strangest costume I saw was a beer keg.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: arcblade on October 14, 2007, 01:58:00 PM
Since when do I have over 50 posts?  (marvels)

beer kegs aren't very scary, if you ask me.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 14, 2007, 05:21:00 PM
Not all costumes have to be scary.  The holiday's more about fun than fear, in my opinion.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 14, 2007, 09:39:00 PM
I have never actually tried to look "scary."
I don't have to, though, since the type of scary I pull off is quite affective by itself.

Maybe it's just me, but beer kegs seem pretty "scary."

Since you posted that? I dunno'.
I wouldn't really take much notice to mine if it weren't so ridiculously high a number.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 15, 2007, 09:44:00 AM
Considering how much you talk, Faith, that number's not ridiculous at all.

By the way, since it's October and all, odds are I'll update PE more than Beastling.  I tend to think about PE more this time of year...maybe it's the whole "Demons and Undead" thing...
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: arcblade on October 15, 2007, 10:11:00 AM
(pouts)  Darn... I really, really like Beastling.  Oh well, Pending Else is definitely interesting, it just doesn't have Beastling.  I'll suffer on somehow!  (chuckles)
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 15, 2007, 01:13:00 PM
Maybe next year I'll be Beastling. XD
Title: Re: Halloween!

Heh.  I'd pitch in some money for *that* costume.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 15, 2007, 04:55:00 PM
*Laugh!!!*   :D

Sounds like a fun thing to be.   ;D
I don't know where you'd get the material for that, though...
Let me know if you figure it all out!   ;)
(Maybe we could all make a plan and dress up as Beastlings for Halloween... hehehe...   :)  )

I'm fine with that.
I like both comics, a lot...
And, besides, where there isn't Beastling, there's other, equally awesome and interesting characters.
(I have already made it evident that I can't choose a favorite character in the Polls Board.)

Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 16, 2007, 06:33:00 AM
Oh, sure, like Faith said, there's no Beastling, but there's Issac, and Mhero, and Rithiel, and Raddick, and CJ...I could go on, but I probably shouldn't.

But yeah, lots of characters.  There's even a few quadrupeds later on.

Beastling isn't sidelined, though.  It's got one in the works, too.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 16, 2007, 07:18:00 PM
*Laugh!!!*   :D

Maybe they it's just 'cuz all those characters have yet to be introduced. When they are, I bet people will like 'em, too.   ;)

And now, time for me to ask another one of my questions.
What's a guadruped?
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 17, 2007, 09:02:00 AM
Quadruped.  With a Q.

Anything that walks on 4 legs is a quadruped.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: arcblade on October 17, 2007, 11:31:00 AM
Horse, dog, pig, cow,  yep, all quadrupeds.  You can kinda pick it apart, since quad = four.

Bipedal critters have two legs.  Bi = 2  Not sure if there's a no-legs term or not.  But if you think about it, centipede can be picked apart the same way.  Centi = 100.  And millipede, but I bet I'm boring you to death by now.

Heh, little random Arc-tangent.  Now back to your regularly scheduled topic.

Oops... I thought he said it with a G...   :-/

I know this stuff... I'm just terribly unobservant.
Nah.... I'm just feeling stupider than usual, considering the fact that I covered this subject in elementary...
Oh! Do I get stupid points for that!?!?!   :D

(Just curious.)

A bomb of what?

Sure... here's mine.   ;D
*Steps back a few feet to watch cautiously.*
(Turns out I didn't need it, 'cuz those tests were really easy!!!)
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 23, 2007, 07:36:00 AM
Smart Bombs are bombs that, theoretically, damage only enemies.

In reality, they just seek their target, often inaccurately.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 23, 2007, 06:27:00 PM
Heh...   ;D

So what's the point of using them?
How often are they accurate?

(Should I still be standing a few feet away?   :P  )

And... who would you be sending bombs after?...   :-/
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on October 25, 2007, 09:17:00 AM
Me?  no one.

The military uses them.  They're often referred to as "Seeker Mines."  They're underwater things...I think they're magnetic, or something.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Faith on October 25, 2007, 04:09:00 PM
Really? I thought they used something more along the lines of heat-sensing...
So they just stick giant magnets at the head, and then fill the rest with explosive substances?

*Tappa, tappa, tapp...*
Those odd little chicks...

So... a smart cookie, like you were asking about, would be an explosive cookie that chases stupid people?

~Edits~ Leavin' tonight! =D Gonna have lots 'o fun tomorrow, yeppers. Carving a Michael Myers punkin, making tiramisu(though it's not real, no rum. XP), gonna boss everybody around. Woo...so much to do. ^_^

I've got homework to do, and a costume to make out of something by 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.   :P
And my mom wants me to clean like crazy, tomorrow, while waiting to go to this thing, for going to see my friend's, tonight...

I should be doing my homework before I go to sleep, this evening.

I have not carved a pumpkin this year.
Instead, I want to make a pie out one, on account of I just learned how to make pumpkin pie.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on October 27, 2007, 04:58:00 AM
XD I wanted to make pie out of what was left....but there's not enough time.

I have no idea how I'm gonna to my punkin though. All the carving stuff is at Dwayne's..and I'm carving Michael because he HATES Michael. XD Maybe we can get some things at Stewart's when/if we go to town....

Speaking of Myers..I haven't watched Halloween AT ALL this year. O_O That's odd for me.

~time to go~
Dang....I look good. X3

A little revenge for his taking you pumpkin carving utensils?

What is this Halloween you'd be watching?

At my house, we just get the usual things:
Kitchen knife, preferably rather large
A normal spoon
Tons of newspaper
A pumpkin

Wow... only a few days until Halloween.
I'm gonna bring in the pumpkins, tonight.

My parents made me come in from the airstream because they think water's been freexing...
Has it really been that cold?

How cold is it wherever you guys are at?

I have never actually seen a Micheal Myers movie...
But when I was growing up (ages four to about 11) somebody always come over to my house and told stories to us, and she really liked him...
She also told us the Blaire Witch Project, or whatever it was.

It was in the high 80's today, but we just had a cold front blow in a few days ago...so I imagine it'll be back up to 97 next week. T_T

And he didn't take 'em. We don't have any. XD

I have a creepy and somewhat disturbing obsession with Mikey. <3

I see... O.O

I brought in the pumpkins, but... now my sister will be all angry at me if I make her pumpkin be the only one.
So now I'm taking as much as I can, while leaning enough for it to be a "Jack O' Lantern."
Well, that's what I'll call it, anyway... though it'll really just be the remains of a mangled pumpkin.

80's? 97? Yikes!
What, does it only go down to 72 there?

Last year, I was told it got down to -20 where I live, or something like that...

Jack 'o Lantern, mangled Pumpkin...same thing, in my book.

Hm... I said "leaning" for some strange reason.

Yeah... wonder what's up.
I told my parents it wasn't that cold!
I could've stayed in the airstream longer...

I remember there having been snow on my birthday, once...
That was a real big winter.

Do you remember that really big winter, Dragyn?

Hey! my last post didn't show up here!   :P

I said something along the lines of this:
¡Feliz Cumpleaños!
Blablabla... sheep.
Yeah... it was weird.

I can get the accent marks if I find them on the Internet... so ya' know, Dragyn. I'll probably not bother to do that if I try to say anything in Spanish that's much more than that... so don't expect me to put any accent marks in most of my stuff in Spanish.

Anyway:
Fox hasn't said anything since you've said something, nor has Spirit Wolf.
Arcblade played for a while, but then he stopped to say normal things, so that's the only reason I got more.
Arcblade: 7

Me: 10

Ah, but the best symbol would be the irony mark. Which you really can't use unless you have some kind of special thing..I think. It's a backwards question mark. =3

Symbols and accent marks are fun.
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Dragyn on November 07, 2007, 10:52:00 AM
Accented letters:  á é í ó ú , and the ñ, though it's not technically and accent...

Can't find an "irony mark."  Must be a special character...I'll have to look for one...

For the record, you can look these up in the character map on your computer, at least in Windows.  (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map)

Title: Re: Halloween!

Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on November 08, 2007, 08:19:00 AM
Oo..I've been wondering how to find 'em. =3

And the irony mark, along with a lot of others, are special characters that I think you need to download a certain program for them to work.

  :P
I don't like having to get "special programs..."
Take up too much space...

I could just make one on my computer and put it wherever I wanted to...   ;D
Wait, would people get angry at me for that?
Or is the irony mark a common thing?
Title: Re: Halloween!
Post by: Fox on November 08, 2007, 08:59:00 AM
No, not really. That's what part of the page in the link says. Because it's often misunderstood in writing, and isn't supported by normal computer programs, it isn't used often at all. I wish I could change it, though. :/

I came across it in an odd way, actually. I was doodling and came up with this backwards question mark, had no idea what it meant. Before that, I often called myself the "queen of irony". XD HOW IRONIC!!

.... In 5 pages we went from Halloween to irony. XD
Title: Re: Halloween!

5 pages, for only 2 topics?  That's quite impressive, really.  There'd normally be at least 5.

Oh... I always Use "!?!?!"
But that would be a bit easier... more convenient.

Bring back?
When was it a part of punctuation, and where was I?
There's a group devoted to that?

it was popular around the 1960s.  I'd say... you probably weren't born yet, ne?

There is indeed a Facebook group devoted to that.

No, no I wasn't.
If I was, I'd be at least 47 years old!
(Assuming I still possesed the same birthdate...)

The things people do...

Why'd they drop it?

Check the Wiki.  It never got into that many keyboards.

Heh.   ;D
So you've taken apart keyboards, or something?
Or did I just read that wrong...

Double post, but as I'm not a mod on this board, I guess I can't fix it.  Oh darn.

No, you know how on keyboards there'll be buttons for different symbols, like the forward and backward slashes, and the dollar sign and carot and exclamation point and ampersand?  Well, those are generally commonly used symbols, so they got places on the keyboard.  The interrobang was never quite popular enough to be put into one of those spaces.

I guess despite it being popular with the populace, it never really clicked with the typewriter manufacturers.

Double-post fixed.

The interrobang, huh?  Can't say I see much use for it, but then, it still looks cool.

It's what you get if you combine ? and !.  Makes for slightly less ink usage than !?!?!?!?!?!?!?.  Just slightly less.

Heh.   ;D

Well, that' interesting.
I want to take apart something... I want to take apart our broken gameboy, it's only been lying around my house for a year, anyway. But my sister runs around telling our parents to stop me 'cuz there's acid.   :P
I've made an agreement... but I have to wear stupid stuff.

......

We need an interrinroy mark. =D

No idea why I said that. Maybe I'll start bringing notice to all these nifty marks when I ever get around to starting my comic again. ^_^

The principal value of the interrobang is that it looks more professional and correct than putting two different full stops on the end of one sentence. Unfortunately, it isn't easily differentiated from either of it's parents and lacks the impact of the !?, which is more often used in comics and advertisements, anyway and as such doen't need to look correct.

All told, I can't see much argument for bringing it back, beyond on stenographic keyboards where it's going to save your overtaxed court stenographer precious keystrokes. Notably, the courtroom is probably the place where emphatic questions are most asked. Alas, court stenography is about recording what was said, not how.

However, the interrobang does have one crowning virtue: It allowed me to feel good that I knew it was a variant of exclamation point because of the word bang in the name--no description necessary. This is of course, only because of my studies of programming and internet history, rather than any understanding of typesetter culture, but I still feel good about knowing one more useless thing.

Useless information...the real problem with useless information is that it usually takes something to trigger it to bring it out...

Hmmm...there are over 30 known types of wolves, though some are extinct, now.

Tin foil is usually made from aluminum.  They just still call it tin foil, since it used to be tin.  Aluminum is cheaper, though more flammable.

Rocket fuel is made from Aluminum.

K, not P, is the symbol for Potassium.  P is something else, entirely.

In a list of 3 or more objects, such as Object 1, object 2, and object 3, the comma preceding the word "and" is known as the Oxford comma.

The character for S in Greek became our modern capital E.

Okay, that's all for now.  Some of those just chained with each other.

The only lizard with a voice is the tokay gecko. By "voice" I mean it barks....and it's darn funny, too.
