there wasn't a place were you could just talk about the comic in discuss the comic so i did this ;) :-*
-
i realy like the look on ramjic`s face when the big guy appears
-
Actually, all of "discuss the comic" is for discussing the comic.
And I'm glad you like the look. It took all of three seconds to draw. :P
-
What's with the color changing buildings? How did that guy change the buildings colors, and will I find out later on in the comic anyway? :)
-
I will laugh, not because it will be funny, but because the trio's REACTIONS will be funny.
[Also, what kind of pen would you people recommend?I have something I really don't wanna murder by using a bad pen.]
-
@Spookty: I would recommend a black gel pen that has a good deal of control over the line weight. That's what I've been using. Failing that, an "ultra fine" sharpie tends to work pretty well, as long as you don't have too many lines.
@Faith: The buildings aren't changing colors, the trio is moving, and he's in front of them.
-
Blah.As soon as I FIND such a pen I'll ink it and maybe post it.
-
The one's I've been using are from Wal-Mart...
they're UniBall or something like that...
-
Aw,too bad I've already spent my gift card.
-
I didn't actually see any of them last time I was in there.
In other news: the next comic is up!
-
I just saw.Does Beastling recognize that guy?
"It was me."
"WHAT?"
Heh.I sense plot development.
-
I think I'll try to update again this week. I feel like I left off at a sort of weird point in time.
-
Oh, I see. ;D
-
What do you see?
-
How the buildings aren't really changing colors or some other absurd thing. :) I don't really know why I thought that before!
-
Eh,I sorta thought they changed color too,for a minute there.
-
No worries. I'm not the best at explaining things like that, apparently.
-
Eh, everyone makes mistakes. Right?
And by that I'm talking about my mistake. I'm sure a more observant person would have realized that they were walking, not standing by color changing buildings! :D Especially since Thief Said, "Hey guys... were're we going?"
Spookty, you may have just looked at it real quick, which would explain your confusion. I have no excuse! ;D
-
Of course, that was BEFORE you explained it.
-
Yup! You know what, every one says I'm always quick to criticize myself, and they don't like it. Then you keep on saying stuff like that. So I now know one reason why people might not like it when I criticize myself all the time.
-
I thought the builings changed color, too. :)
-
I find it pretty strange that we're all talking about color changing biuldings. Does anyone else agree?
-
I think that its definately strange. I didnt think the buildings were changing, I could tell they were walking
-
Of course it's strange. In this case, it's also perfectly normal.
@Spoiled: At least someone could tell...
-
Well, I'm sure I would have noticed if I was thinking properly at the time, I recall first seeing when I was supposed to have been in bed, on a school night...
-
Well...I'll try to make stuff like that more clear from here on out. Sorry.
-
It wasn't your fault. ;D
-
Well, since I'm the artist/author, it sort of is...
-
Not really, I should have noticed, but I didn't. Even though Thief said, "Hey guys, where're we going?" Shouldn't that have been kinda' obvious?
-
No. I could have done better.
Maybe...
-
Well, lets just forget it. Kay? 'Cuz I don't think we can agree on who's right or who's wrong, what's done is done, and that's good enough.
-
*one last arguement-thingy 'cuz I just got here*
Well,it couldn't have been more clear unless there was a sidenote that said the buildings weren't actually turning green, and THAT would be sorta dumb.*slinks away*
-
*Laugh* Yes, yes it would have.
-
Okay...I'm losing the argument. I surrender. :)
-
*Giggle* :D
Hey, are you going to draw a picture for the holidays and put it in Extras?
-
VICTORY!*pose*
Anyways,yeah.Same question.
-
Yeah...it might be late, though. I've sketched it out several times...but never liked it. It'll probably show up later this week.
-
Better late than never! ;D
-
Agreed.
-
*sigh*
Very, very late. A relative came to visit. I've worked on it, but it still isn't done.
-
meh.I don't mind,seeing as I'm pretty lazy m'self.
-
All good things need time to be made.
-
It's up! Look in the extras...by the Halloween stuff.
-
All right! I'm going to go see it right now!
-
Whoah. Do you mean that last one? 'Cause I never noticed that one before. 'Tis awesome.
-
Wait...what do you mean by "last one"? Last Halloween? or the Christmas pic?
-
Ah, nevermind. It seems there's a FEW in there I didn't notice, hurhur.
-
Okay, then.
Consider it forgotte...
What were we talking about?
-
*Laugh* :D
When did you start the comic?
When you say it isn't even that funny, you know it just makes it funnier, right?
Wait, take that last one back, I can just check the date under the first comic.
Different question, where is it that Dante and Demon are? I didn't see it when Beastling was in The middle of Nowhere. Did he just not go there?
-
Did you know you just triple posted? Ah well, it's better if you don't do that, though. :/
You can't really look at the date under the first comic...it's inaccurate. I didn't originally have the date shown (Back when I was with my first host, Gutterfly) so the date shown is inaccurate.
The date in the comic image itself should be right, though. Or at least close.
-
close enough for me though
and i like dante's smile when he says ganador ;D
-
Did we just learn the name of Mister "I blow up cars for fun"?
-
Maybe...
but I ain't saying.
-
Yeah, s'what I thoght.
-
Hmm... interesting... now I have to think out some weird questions.
And what do you know, I did triple post!
-
Hey, I just thought of something. Maybe THAT'S why Beastling seemed to be sort of freaking out. I mean, there's him, Ramjik, Theif and Ramjik's dad, so who else could it be? I think the answer will bring up more questions, though.
-
If there's questions to be asked, something tells me I'll be asking the bulk of them... :)
-
I really need to update...
-
Don't worry, it happens with all comics.
-
I'll be trying to update later...after I finish the homework assignment I'm supposed to already have done.
EDIT: Haha! Done at last. The homework, too! Now just to do all those other things I need to get done...like sleep.
-
Yes I should do that, too...
And the new update is very interesting. I like how you've started putting color behind the pictures in the comic. ;D Could have commented on that earlier, it's been that way the last few updates... but I'm saying it now. :)
-
Did you happen to catch the title to this one? Just curious...
-
Heavy Metal? Yup. ;D
-
Just checking... :)
-
Checking is good. : D
-
Ah, so THIS must be what's his face who's name was mentioned earlier. Jerk.
-
Hahaha! That's a subtle way of putting it.
-
*Laugh* :D
Let me guess, Ganador? Okay, so you don't like evil villains...
-
Actually, villians are awesome. But this guy looks pretty jerky, no pun intended.
-
Does he? Good...
-
Eh? Is he gonna be one of those people that you just wanna beat the crap out of or something?
-
That would depend more on you than on him. I'm just saying he seems dislikable, which is sort of what I was going for for his first appearances. Apparently, I succeeded.
Apparently...
-
Well, not[THAT bad] YET.
-
To me he seems almost like a mix between a villain, and a crazy grouch. 'Course, aren't most villains crazy grouches?
-
Or are the crazy grouches just all villains?
Anyway, I'm finding it almost as interesting discussing these characters on the forum as I am drawing the comic.
Almost...
-
*Laugh* :D
...
I laugh at everything, don't I?
Yeah, well anyway - I have to agree, the evil/deranged villian has become a fun thing to talk about. ;D
-
It's good to laugh!
Ganador is a pain to draw, though.
-
*Laugh* :D
Well, he turned out well! :D I like his expression in the fifth image!
You're already on the 81st comic, too! And it seems not to long ago that Beastling and Thief landed in the museum...
Are you going to do anything different when you post the 100th, like put a picture in Extras, or something? Just wondering.
-
Hmmm...hadn't actually given it much thought.
I probably will, though.
-
Neat!!! :D
-
Hey, I'm back, people. I would've used my phone, but I'm not patient enough for that. I'm glad I didn't have to sift through like ten new updates though.
-
Glad to see ya'!
-
Also, is that "I just hit you somewhere off-screen, HAHA!" humor I see there? Heh.
-
Yes, yes it is.
-
About teh newest page: We find out what just happend soon, righ? Also, Ramjik's dad seems unusually nice for an evil dude.
-
Not all evil dudes are completely evil, and some have reasons to seem nice at given moments, or, ulterior motives. but then, I'm not the one to say whether or not he's completely evil or anything, which is why I ask - exactly how evil is "Evil-Dude?"
I can't ask why he's seeming nice because, I think, the answerer to that would give away to much information...
And, I just feel like saying, the comic has come a long way from it's first update; which, by the way, actually still makes me laugh... hehehe... "Full-Grown Beowolves are considered some of the wisest and strongest creatures around. Their Youth however... aren't."
-
Eh, just sayin' that because ya' don't see much of it.
-
Well...originally, there was a line in the most recent update where Ramjik's dad says "Know for now that I am not evil." right before he says "Go," but I took it out because it made the comic seem too wordy.
You'll learn more about him later, though. He's fairly important.
-
I see. I still say one of the best things about this comic is the characters, mmyep.
-
Yeah, that's true - there can't be a good story without interesting characters. ;)
-
True...especially considering that the characters came before the story. Well, most of 'em, anyway.
-
I think that the characters in this comic are neat. ;)
They're interesting and have great reactions and personalities. :)
I also think making up characters is a fun part of making up stories. ;D
You get to give them their own details and stuff, make them different and likable or dis-likable, whatever you want.
I like the funny part. ;D
So, he's not evil - yet he sends people to chase his son's friends, brandishing sticks?
Is that stick more of a staff, or a magical staff, or a poky, harmful object?
And what is "it?"
The "it" that almost collapsed when he knocked himself out on the water pipes?
And where are these water pipes?
-
Again...all will be revealed. Eventually.
-
So --- the blue guy doesn't say a lot?
Is that because he's a ghost?
Or is it just because he's just not saying anything in this update?
Am I going to find out later?
-
Do I need to answer?
-
I brought that upon myself... :)
-
Cool comic. I'm liking it so far. Love the concept of a wolf/dragon hybrid race. And Beastling just looks plain cool.
"What did your father give you, Beastling?"
"A chain and a portent of doom. Goodnight, Mom."
Ha ha!
The story seems to drag a bit after the first few pages, but things start to pick up when you start showing off some interesting characters. Also like the good ol' fashioned hand coloring.
Pretty good job. I'll be checking back for more updates!
-
Hey Virmir. :D
-
Hey Virmir!
Nice to see a face from the Xepher.net forum! I know it dragged a bit, which I regret. I'm not going to go back and change it, though, if only so I can see how much better I've gotten.
Again, good to see you.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I like it! :)
That place is kinda like the one the dragons were at... even the fish...
-
That's 'cuz it -is- the place the dragon's were at...even the fish. :P
-
I thought so! :D
And - I got you to tell me!
'Course, you probably didn't really care this time... otherwise you wouldn't have said.
I would ask if the dragons are going to send them after something else, now - but, I bet you won't tell me this time, because I said I got you to tell me about the place... and it might be different this time.
-
Hello, Hello :) - wow that sounds weird...
-
You just read the first page & the latest update - you know three. :D
Four if you count the fish. ;D
-
Like this. :D
-
Oh! Our friend is crashing cars! Let's try, too!!!
(For those who do not understand, or are looking outside their windows for out-of-control vehicles -just to be safe, of course- it's an Internet game.)
-
*In the same voice as the aliens off of Toy Story*
The incedent... ooooo...
-
Welcome, hello, and sorry I took so long.
As names go, it's best to refer to people by their nickname, unless they specify otherwise. It's a privacy concern, so don't worry too much. Generally, if you slip, I (or Legion) will fix it for you.
Also, it's best not to double post, though I'll leave it for now.
Again, Welcome!
-
Oops - I'll try to mention that next time I get somebody on here. ;D
Oh! I never saw those... hehe... :-[ ... sorry.
I was talking to you in person, Hello - so I guess I just didn't look at the page that often to see what you had posted... :D
You must have thought I was ignoring you...
But, anyways - I'm not sure about that really. I suppose if it absolutely drives you nuts calling me Faith when you know me by another name, you can refer to my by my first name --- but I think It'd be best if you call me Faith, here.
-
Welcome, new person. Eh, try to type better, please. i have a headache. But yeah, welcome, have a good time, stuff like that.
-
Oh - I hope you feel better, soon, Spookty.
By the way - I like the fish ;D ; the fish is cool. 8)
I like the big fish, too. ;D
So - he was drowning, sank to the bottom, and then got there and... stopped drowning?
Now I really want to figure out how that happened. :)
-
Awesome job on the previous two comics, Dragyn. Your artwork is really improving. :)
-
Yeah - if you compare his most recent update to the first, you can really see the difference. :)
I'm looking forward to seeing how his artwork improves in the future.
People tend to like his art - I know I do. ;)
I have some questions. :D
How did Thief get that mark across his eye?
Does he not know how to swim, or did the crystal weigh him down?
So - there's air where Thief is at? Then, the fish is floating?
Are there a lot of skeleton fish in that place?
Why did he have his knife out in the scene where he's putting down the crystal?
Are you used to all my questions by now? :)
I guess Thief doesn't like shoes, either. ;D
-
Wah, I need to actually check for updates. ^^;
Okay. Ramjik's dad is a very enigmatic person, and Theif seems to be in quite a situation. Oh, and yes, the art HAS improved. Story's really starting to get interesting now.
-
Heh. :D
Ramjik's dad is a very interesting character - but then, they're all interesting characters... :)
I really like how the characters, backgrounds and stuff have been getting drawn of late - and, also, I think the whole underwater scene was drawn just fine. :)
-
Meh...I knew I'd have trouble with this sequence. No, there's no air, I'm just not good at drawing underwater. He didn't have his dagger out, he's just reaching for it. He keeps it in his belt, see?
I don't think I'll ever understand why people like my art, but thanks anyway, everybody.
-
I wasn't looking at it very closely. Also, don't beat yerself up over your art. 's bad for self esteem and all that crud.
-
Yeah - besides, your art is good. Would I ask for help to try to learn how to draw the things you draw if I didn't think of your art as good?
And, I wouldn't have asked that, it's just what he said that confused me. Why did he say, "Whoa. Air!?"
Did he say that because he needed air?
I should have focused more, is all. I'm not exactly what they call "bright." :P
Why was he reaching for it? Did he want to make sure it was still there after the fall and all that? Or does he just do that sometimes, almost unaware that he even does it? Kinda like someone chewing their nails, or sticking out their tongue while they draw?
Still, what about that mark? Am I not allowed to know? Is it just there?
-
Oh...ok, I gotcha' now.
He needed air, is all. He reached for his dagger as an absent gesture. He didn't even know he was doing it.
He got the mark way back when he stole the gem itself. He's had it ever since. (Go back and look if you don't believe me)
And I'll just take you guys' word for it that it's good...
-
Oh.
Heh! :D
I believe you. :)
Now I really want to know what's going on next! ;D
-
The irony here is that the next one is all drawn, just need to get it uploaded...
-
Heh. :)
We can wait. ;)
-
Wait no more! It's up!
-
I saw! :D It's funny! ;)
I like it. :)
Look forward to finding out who that guy is.
-
Good. It'd be weird if you of all people weren't.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Yeah. ;D
Still - I like how it turned out, and the reflection in Thief's eyes is a good affect. ;)
The new guy looks cool. :)
-
Glad to hear he looks cool...this is the first time I've actually drawn him in color.
-
Really? :)
I wonder what he looks like, otherwise...
Was that a treasure chest that Thief had his head on?
-
Oh boy I've had that dream.
-
Yup, it was a treasure chest.
What dream, now?
(BTW, Spookty, your signature image is a bit...large. I'd appreciate it if you'd find a smaller file)
-
So - they're at the bottom of the lake, and there's a bunch of skeleton fish swimming around --- but, that isn't the only kind of fish there is?
And, the new guy lives underwater - can he go above the surface?
And can Thief go above the surface, now that he's been infected? Will the infection go away? Or will he have it for the rest of his life, or until he does something about it?
-
<Insert Evil Grin Here>
(Ya' know what, I should make an evil grin smiley for the forum)
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
How do you change the smilies?
Do you make them on Paint. Net?
It is Ramjik!!! :D
I saw the angry smiley before I saw the announcement. ;D
What is a "Symbiote?"
I think I'd have the same reaction to that as Theif... "Huh?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?"
It just sounds like something I'd do. :)
Can you really spell "smileys" two ways?
-
Hey, questions I can answer without giving things away!
A symbiote is an organism that lives by leeching off of another organism, but doesn't harm the other organism. (Also called a symbiont)
"Smiley" isn't an official word, so it can be spelled however. I tend to use Smiley for the singular and smilies for the plural. That's just me, though.
And yes, it is Ramjik.
-
Heh, I bet you enjoyed those questions better than the ones you can't answerer... :D
How does someone get a symbotie?
Can they, like they do in the comic, actually help people?
Did Thief get it through his cut?
Speaking of questions you probably wont answerer...
Oh, that's good, I don't have to worry about misspelling it. ;D
Unless I hit the wrong key by accident... which happens a lot... :)
-
You misspelled it, already.
Thief got it- wait...I'm not answering that. That'll be answered in a bit.
But yeah, a symbiont can help. If it doesn't help, it's generally called a parasite.
-
Oops, yes I did... :P
How can they help?
What things can they do?
There isn't a known one that can help someone breath underwater, is there? If there was, we either wouldn't know about it because the government or scientists would still be using and experimenting it, or there'd be somebody selling it for millions... right?
-
Right.
Most symbiotic relationships involve fungi and trees, (or fungi and small creatures)
As of yet, no one is aware of any that can let you breathe underwater.
-
Well I guess it's better than one of those explainations that takes up a whole strip. Those things are annoying sometimes. Also, I'm guessing that's... oh, I forgot what it's called, but it's when the symbiote helps the host and the host helps the symbiote in some way, is what I'm thinking here.
-
That would be what's called a Symbiotic Relationship, if I'm getting what you're saying.
-
Neat - I wonder what they can do... :D
(Searching it on the Internet now.) ;D
I like the close up on the bonefish. :)
So --- is there a big thing about this, now? I have so many questions that can't be answered without spoiling it all: will Thief owe something to the bonefish now, or was it just kindness on the bonefish's part; will Thief end out taking quests, like Beastling did; did he just pass something big - like, now it's been proven he can do something others, can't, or something? That last one would explain why the other guy didn't save him; or was the other guy not able to help - handicapped, in a way?
Well, I'm just gonna have to wait... with my luck, all my guesses above are wrong. :P But there's more - I have so many guesses, and I'll just have to wait to find out! :)
Well - the good news is that you've got someone's attention on the comic and what's going on. If I were reading this in a book, this would be one of those parts I'd stay up late just to find out what's next. ;)
Did Thief leave his jacket when he set it down?
Do you look at and read the links on your site and choose them yourself, or does your host choose them for you or something like that?
Just wondered, with my interest in the whole website thing, myself.
-
The sites I link in the Links page are sites I myself like, for varying reasons. The ones that show up in the Xepher.net newsbox are the only ones Xepher does anything with, and those are just the ones he hosts.
Thief left his jacket when he was drowning, yes.
-
Ahah. I wonder if he'd like some ice with that burn.
-
O.o ??
Don't get it - who's been burned?
-
I believe Spookty is referencing the current comic, actually.
-
Oh - I get it. :P
Duh - I'm smart! :o
When/where did the Pumpkin King show up?
-
Exactly where it says--Halloween '05. That's all.
-
Oh - yeah, I forgot to check that out, on the cast page. :P
I guess what I want to know is, was he in the comic?
If so, why isn't he in the archives?
-
He hasn't shown up in the comic, no.
-
Oh, so he was an addition in the Extras page, no more? Well, now I know I didn't mis something. ;D
So Thief always has weapons, because... he's paranoid?
Why's he paranoid?
-
Because he's Thief.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Good reason. ;D
Is the new guy affected by that symbiote? He has gills, but he knew about how it would hurt when switching. If he doesn't, then I'll want to know who told him... but I wont be allowed to know. :P
-
And you won't be allowed to know, anyway. :P
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Aww - so I'll half to wait to find out? :P
I really have to stop asking questions you wont answerer. ::)
How long did you plan out Beastling before you put it up on the Internet?
There!!! You can answerer that!!!
-
You know, now that I look at it again that fish looks evil or something.
-
Well... I can't say anything certain (not being the artist, here...) but, I'm gonna say this: what are skeleton fish supposed to look like? Cuddly? :P
Hey - why not?
"Aw - come here cute little skeleton fish :D ; come on, let me pet you ;D --- OUCH!!! :o It poked me with one of it's sharp little bones!!! :o "
(Okay... everyone on here must know I'm nuts by now... ;D / :-[ )
Later:
I like the new update. :D
Thief's freind sounds very worried... :P
-
Oh yes. Nothing but concern, there.
Also, the bonefish is the bonefish. Evil? maaybee...
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I like the designs you used for the water in the background, even if you don't know what it looks like under water. :)
If you wanted to find out, though - one easy way would be yo search up pictures of underwater scenes in google. :-/ / :)
Did you already consider doing that?
I think it looks fine the way it is - really, the designs are neat. :D ;)
-
I like the designs too...it's just not accurate.
-
Well... people breathing underwater, dragon-wolf creatures, and talking buildings with eyes are believed to be inaccurate, too... but they're neat. ;)
Either way - I think it's good; but it's not my work. And, I'm sure whatever you do, I'll like it - your artwork is better than mine. ;D
When did you start coming up with the titles for each update?
-
When they started showing up...whenever that was.
-
Um... when you started coloring them? No... a little after that, I think. ;D
How strong, exactly are Beowolves?
In the beginning you said they were "Beings of immense power and strength," and "Full grown Beowolves are considered some of the wisest and strongest creatures around."
But how strong are they?
What are their limitations, and what creatures "are strong or brave enough to fight them?"
I'd ask "Are there any creatures that can overtake them that we'll see in the comic?" :P
But I think I know the answerer I'd get for that. ::)
-
The answerer? I'm pretty sure I'm the answerer here, and I don't thing you're getting me for that...
Anyway, how strong they are depends on what they do. If they work all day (or close enough, anyway) then a beowulf could likely destroy an entire city. If they sit around and do nothing, there's a reasonable chance they could still manage to kill an ant, provided it didn't move too fast.
Of course, I'm not saying what you'll see in the comic.
But you knew that, already.
-
On teh update: Oooh, nice word bubbles.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
So, the same with people - only with a wider variation of strengths and weaknesses? ;D
Are there lots of communities in Beastling - and PE?
-
Communities? Like, groups?
If so, then yes.
And no, I won't elaborate on what that means.
And thanks, Spookty. I tried.
-
Okay. :)
Am I not allowed to know how Dietrich knew Thief's name?
Also --- I didn't ask earlier, but what was Chad Screaming about?
Waking up, chained in some strange place?
Was it something he saw?
What was glowing red - and did it have anything to do with Chad's screaming?
-
The hallway has red lighting.
He saw Ganador. That's not something I'd want to see, when waking up.
And Dietrich's knowledge sources are classified information.
-
O, oh, and oh.
How far apart in age are Beastling and Chad?
-
Hmmm...I'm not entirely sure on that one, really.
Er, I mean--that's classified information! Yeah...
-
*Laugh!!! :D
Okay. ;D
Do you know how old most of the people are on here?
Is it more "Classified information?"
-
In the comic? I know approximate and equivalent ages, but not everything is set in stone.
On second thought...let's just go with "classified information" again.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I misspelled laugh, just then, before...
Either way...
About how long does it take you to draw out an update, if you just sit down and draw it?
-
Well, that depends a lot on several variables. If I draw anything complex, it takes a lot longer than just drawing a few things I draw a lot of (like Beastling, or Ramjik--they're both easy)
Thief himself almost always takes longer, as he is a much more "realistic" character, so I have more trouble posing him and suchlike.
I'm actually trying something different with the next one, so (as always) it'll be up later than planned. It seems to be taking a bit longer than my usual, so I'll see if the end justifies the time taken...
Oh, yeah. Comic later than planned. Sorry.
-
Humans, in general, are more difficult to draw than most other things... to most people I know, anyway.
Oh well, I'm sure it will turn out well. :D
Where did you get the idea for Dietrich?
*Laugh!!!* :D
Now I know what you were doing with it. :D
The characters turned out really well - but the background, in my opinion, lost something. I think it looked better when you had more detail and shading in it. It lost a bit of reality.
But the characters did turn out very well. And the water looked good, too. :)
-
Dietrich emerged at random from the depths of my mind. I have no idea how he got there.
Yeah...I'm not really happy with the background, either. I think the background's why I don't consider it having been "worth it." I'll probably try something else for the next update.
-
Maybe you could make the background like you used to, but the characters like they are in this update?
Though, that'd probably take a long time... wouldn't it?
-
Probably not as long as this took.
-
When you did this, what took the longest, and what was the hardest?
-
Even if it wasn't worth it, the coloring DOES look nice d:
Getting better at expressions, too.
-
Well, I like the coloring on the characters (which took all the time), but the backgrounds are...well...meh.
-
Heh. :)
I agree -
I'm curious, though; is glow what you used in the water and on Thief's hair?
Or is there another thing on Paint. net that makes colors blend and fade that I haven't found yet?
-
The coloring is shiny d:
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Well, I've never switched from breathing underwater to breathing above it... but it does sound painful... :P
Oh - interesting avatar, Spookty. ;D
-
Hmmm, probably.
Also, the avatar is from IZ. "That is no Earth bee!"
<font color="LimeGreen">If this blinds people I'm gonna use a different color.</font>
-
Question, Spookty: how is the coloring shiny? :-/
So... somebody's killing a smiling, alien bee?
-
I can see the smiling, alien bee, but where'd the killing come from?
Also, I didn't use glow at all. I used one layer on top of the other, with partial transparency. That's all.
Ugh...I've been busy this week. Almost no progress made on the comic, and I don't like the way it's coming. Expect delays (more, I mean)
-
I dunno, felt like saying it d:
And no, the bee actually barely touches a ship and it goes crashing down in a huge smoking ruin.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Well, it buzzes around a little, and then it changes colors and the word DEATH pops up....
I thought it died...
Where's the ship?
Huh?
How'd you do that?
I still don't get anything on Paint. net....
-
Layers, Faith, it's all about the layers...
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
The layers... :)
:-/ ?
Well, I'll just have to figure it out... somehow.... :P
About the wallpaper:
I recognize that!
It looks very good, now that it's finished. ;D
How would people use it?
How many layers did you use to make it?
-
It's not in the avvie, but it happens on teh show d:
-
Oh... :D
Interesting show, I guess....
And a really badly built ship...
-
I think the bee is supposed to be magic, or something...
There were, in total, about 25 layers involved, and some that you don't see ('cuz I decided not to use them) To use it, all you'd have to do is right click on it, and select "Set as Desktop Background" (or whatever yours says)
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
A magical bee...
...interesting.
Neat! I'm gonna try it! ;D
Hey - who's in there!
-
Who's in the what now?
-
*Laugh!!!* :D :D :D
Inside the train, there's a glowing, red eye, looking out, isn't there?
Well, in my opinion, your "really lame excuse" is a good one.
-
Well, on the plus side, I actually have the next one to an "under construction" stage--just gotta' ink and color it, now.
Yeah, there's an eye, but do you really think I'm saying who's it is?
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
No, not really... ;D
That's good! I look forward to seeing it! ;)
Do the trains float, or something?
Can they run off of the tracks?
-
Again, I'll explain the train later.
Update forthcoming! See the Blog-Like thing for details...
-
Heh - I saw that. : )
I hope I can get on the Internet at my grandparent's....
Do you think that your getting a job will interfere with your updates?
-
It might, though hopefully not as much as computer trouble did...
Also--Update is up! Yay!
-
Yeah, it's much better than the last one. ;D
Now I know what colors K'os and Disodrer are... :)
What did Thief use to tie the crystal to his ankle? And does the crystal have a hole or something to put string through so that it can be tied to stuff?
-
On teh update, whoah, I'm mildly surprised I recognize those two.
-
Surprised? It's only been...oh. It's been a year, now, hasn't it...weird.
Don't be too sure you know, Faith...
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Hmm.... :)
I'm now thinking about what things would cause the colors of a dragon to change...
I'm also thinking Dragyn is enjoying trying to confuse me.... and succeeding, too. :P
-
Oh yes, enjoying it very much.
Anyway, new update. pencil drawn lines, computer coloring...not sure if I like it, but it's up.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Well, good for you!!! :P
Oh, so now I know what you were talking about. ;D
It may not have turned out as you would have liked; but it was a good idea, and I bet, had you put more time into the background, it would look much better. ;) But you didn't exactly have the time. :-/
Also, I think the background would help assist in making Beastling and K'os stop seeming to appear to be changing sizes...
If I may offer a bit of advice: I bet it'd turn out a lot cleaner looking if you inked it with a good pen. :)
Everything else is neat. ;D
-
I'm markedly lacking in good pens right now, actually. I keep planning to buy some, then forget.
Ah well, I'll still be experimenting.
And just in case you've forgotten--K'os does change size. Always has. Beastling, on the other hand, just looks bigger 'cuz K'os is smaller.
Hmm...we'll see.
-
Oh... well don't I feel stupid now... :P
I guess I'd forgotten; now, looking back, I think I recall hearing something like that...
You could use one of mine; in fact, you can have the one you use.
(Trying to be helpful.)
Though it still turned out rather well. :)
I think you made it look better than I could have. ;)
-
Next one has been (partially) sketched. Shouldn't be too long before I can update again.
Anyway, since all the old notes were never archived, I should probably make a note of that again, somewhere.
-
Grr... yesterday I was cut off from the Internet before I could finish replying to everything....
Oops.... I didn't mean to say "sturned." ::)
I think you said something about it to me, before. I don't think I read it there. Instead, I think I started reading this comic after K'os's first appearance. So for readers that haven't the comic since then, like me, that would be a nice thing to do.
How long have K'os and Disodrer been hiding around in a cave? Do they ever come out? Why do they have all that machinery? Are they mad dragons plotting to take over the world?
Kay, maybe that last one was just a twist of imagination meant to entertain myself....
Ah well... I know I wont get an answerer on those, anyways. :P
Why is one of K'os's wings transparent like that?
-
K'os and Disodrer...they're Chaos dragons.
Ya' know what, I think I'ma go work on the cast page. That'll explain it all.
(NOTE--see the Blog-Like Thing for info on "WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG!!!")
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Hence the names K'os and Disodrer? ;D
That was an awesome storm! To bad it prevented you from updating, though...
Do we find out how Disodrer broke that horn?
*Later on....*
*Laugh!!!* :D
I like how the green Disodrer looks. ;D
Are all Chaos Dragons like that? Changing color and size from time to time....I think it's neat. :)
Is that just things that most, widely known Chaos Dragons do? Or is that your own idea of what your Chaos Dragons are like? Are there many other kinds of dragons that you've made up? If so, what are they?
What's up with Disodrer's neck?
*A bit later than the last later on...*
Do beowolves breath fire like dragons do?
I thought that must've been how Chad set the tree on fire, but then I haven't seen any beowolves breathing fire...
Also, the picture of Ramjik at the top of the screen (the one that comes with the background) is all distorted, right now...
I wonder if my computer's going whack'o...
-
Um... I'm putting this new post here because otherwise, I have suspicions that no one will see that I've said stuff in here.
-
And this!!!
Will anybody respond, now?
These questions may be old, but they're driving me nuts!
Heh... I like the News.
Quote:Hey look!
Look!
Are you looking?
There's new news!
Uh...
For Beastling:
I'll try to update this week.
(That is, by Saturday, 9/29/07)
Wish me luck.
For PE:
Pending Else update...
...when I can.
...
Sorry...
News restarts now.
Hehehe...
"Hey, look! Look! Are you looking?"
Oh, and good luck. ;)
And no need for an apology. :)
-
Didn't make it by Saturday...I was brutally assaulted by Homework.
Most of your questions will be answered in time, including those about Chaos dragons. As far as they're concerned, though, this version of chaos dragon is mine.
I'll have a look at the Ramjik Theme (I think that's what you mean) later on.
-
Hm... well that's fine now... I wonder what was up wiht it...
Thanks anways. :)
So I don't get to find out what's up with Disodrer's neck?
I've been wondering since that one went up. :P
-
Disodrer's neck's been like that from the start.
-
It has?
With that reddish stripe?
I feel observant, now...
-
He's missing a plate.
-
Why is the stripe the same color as the plates, again, in the next picture?
(Sorry... I'm being annoying, aren't I?)
-
Nah. I probably just forgot to put it in. I do that from time to time. (I've done it with Beastling's wings at least once...)
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Well, that's fine. :)
He looks neat, either way.
(I still want to draw like you!!!!) :P
I like your style, 'cuz, like you said when we were talking about art styles, it's mixed. It's like realistic animation, and it's really good!
I draw funky, scribble stuff.
You've had 21414 visitors!!!!! :D
Had you noticed that?
-
No, I hadn't.
Expect further delays with comicing. I was in a car wreck yesterday, and it hurts to do anything but lay still. Sorry.
-
I just read that!
I was so nervouse, I forgot my username!
I had no Internet access these past few days, and now I feel bad about not having been around, sooner...
I hope you feel better, soon....
I wish I could help in some way...
I'm sorry I didn't get on here, sooner...
-
This is an interesting comic. I just wish it updated more.... it has what a comic needs to start: a good plotline. But I've had to put it on the "On Hiatus" section of my webcomics. Alas.
Get better soon, man.
-
Dragyn has his reasons.
And, just you wait, it'll get going again, once he can focus more on it.
Right now, he's got other things that require his attention.
Dragyn has his reasons.
Sorry, Dragyn... I just realized I kinda answered that for you, since it was sort of directed to you, I think.
-
Heh. I'm around. I think I can manage to get the next update up, soon.
Can't do any work, so since I have to sit somewhere, it may as well be here.
-
Heh. :D
I think everyone will look forward to that. :)
-
Cheers.
-
I bet that everyone is happy about this. :)
I'm happy because this means that you're feeling better, and that your health is improving.
It sounds like you've come a long ways from that state you were in...
Hm... I must have overlooked that I've gotten another Karma point...
I'm going to do my best to figure who it was that did that...
-
(blinks) Karma. Eep. Where did I get karma? Does one automatically get karma for showing up? (boggles)
By the way, Faith, I'm going to guess that's a dragon eye. I know you don't know either, but it kinda reminds me of a dragon eye.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Well, I'd thought about it.... but I really haven't thought much of it.
Karma... an old subject ;D
One gets karma if another person on the forum likes them, or thinks that they've done something good and/or nice. It's kinda like a reward, or present, maybe.
In some cases, it may be used as a "welcoming gift."
That help?
-
Indeed. (ponders the new karma) Must be the welcome gift kind.
-
Heh. ;D
Yeah, maybe. :)
-
Or maybe a certain forum master likes to throw Karma on people who post things. [img]http://beastling.xepher.net/images/forum/ramjik.gif" alt=">:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>
-
Dude.... there was an update!
(throws a party) Wohoo! ^_^
-
Yup. There was an update all of 20 minutes ago.
-
Eheh. Well, in my defense, I just got back from a movie.
-
Defense? What's to defend? You're probably the first to see it on the site! (Well, other than me, of course)
-
Heh. ;D
I would have seen it earlier, than this morning, if I hadn't had to get off... I'll have to get off early again, this time, as well... :P
I really like the detail on this one, as I've mentioned before.
You like transparent stuff, don't you, Dragyn?
-
Well, I thought it was kinda weird that I'd be the first to see when I only check once a day. Don't worry about it too much.
-
Hm... the conversation in this update and the the fact that almost everyone that is a main character and free to go about and do things if they want to being in this makes me wonder....
Where's Dante?
He was with Demon a little while ago, and... I don't think anyone's going to tell me.... but I'm saying this, anyway. ::)
Who's worrying?
Just talking, I think.
Sorry if I sound like I am, or something. ': )
I check about as often as I can, now...
("Which I will name later, maybe." :D Very funny. ;) )
-
I really do hope to come up with a name for that one...
As for Dante, well...you'll see soon enough.
-
Good. 'Cuz it'll drive me nuts until I do find out. :)
That water looks really neat, and clear...
I'd want to go swimming there if it weren't for the fact that I now know a little of what's down there.
I wonder when Thief tells his friends about what happened down there...
Will that additional ability be used much later on?
I'm not allowed to know that, am I?
-
Of course you aren't.
You want to swim in water that's green and purple?
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
It doesn't look too green or purple. ;D
I think it looks neat. :)
What does the C in the circle stand for, anyways?
-
You mean the ©? That means "Copyright."
-
Yeah...
Hey, how do you type that, anyway?
'Bout how old is Beastling?
And how old are beowolves when they start to fly?
-
They fly when/if they're ready. It varies.
Beastling's age is indeterminate. (Means I'm not really sure)
also, ©= ALT+0169
-
Hm... once again, it doesn't do anything, for me...
Here is my effort:
Ÿ
Wow! What on Earth is that!?!
It didn't do that last time...
And it's not doing it again.
This thing hates me.
So some never fly?
-
Right. Some never really fly.
-
Man... that'd suck. I've wanted to fly since I was like 5.. What if there was a Beowulf me and it never got to fly..
Depressing as all heck, man.
-
Heh....
Do they not fly by choice, or does the fact that they're too, well... wolf-like, I guess, to have the ability?
-
*completely off topic randomness oh noes* Just so you people know, I'm still reading :3 I just don't post. Yeah. Er.
-
Oh, good to see you're around, Spookty!
Generally, it's by choice. Occasionally, some are simply unable to fly--often due to injury, or defect.
-
Will there be any of those in the comic?
Are you going to put some of your creations from Beastling into Pending Else?
Nice to see ya' again. :)
-
Yes.
No.
-
Entirely different projects...
Then that means everything in PE will be surprises! ;D
What sort of substance would Demon's sword be made of?
-
He's a crystal knight. They're magic crystals.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
(I just read the stupid pionts thing... ;D )
And, since I know why you've got the most, I must say, it is even funnier.
Neat. :)
Where'd you get that idea?
Are there many other Crystal Knights, in Beastling?
How highly are they well... placed in society... are respect, or... what kind of honor is that...
Whatever, you get the idea, I think...
-
To answer your questions:
You'll see.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
All right... I'll wait. :P
(I have to admit, though, this does make it more interesting when I find out... ;D )
Hm... before I posted this, I had 888 posts... how random.
How long did it take you to think out the design for the medal on Beastling's chain?
-
Total? Probably...3 months of revision.
-
*Whistle of impressed nature*
What parts did you change?
(That you recall... I realize that this may not be the sort of thing everybody takes time to remember. :P )
-
Must've taken the back of a lot of church bulletins!
-
Lots and lots of church bulletins...
Anyway, for the most part...the whole thing changed. It used to be almost round. (You'll see something similar to the original eventually. I'll point it out then.)
Only the circle in the center really stayed...
-
Heh. :D
Woah! Where'd you come from!?!
Something tells me I've missed something...
-
He registered day before yesterday.
Speaking of: Welcome, Villageelder. (I know who you are!)
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Hm...
I wonder if I should know who he is... :P
Should I?
-
I doubt you'd know him from the information he provided.
-
Actually, now I do. ;D
I never knew he made plushies... but then I don't really know that much about him. And I said the exact same thing to him via PM...
He said he was gonna' make you guess. I don't think he looked here... 'cuz he said that after you said this. :P
He said he chose his name, due to his identity. :)
Was that a clue to you, Dragyn?
-
Not his username, no. However, his Email and Birthday were. That, and the way he spoke.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Actually, I heard about that...
From some other on the forum, too.
I know, about... I think I "know" seven people one here. If I'm trying to be a bit more acurate, I should say "met" rather than "know."
How many people does you know, off the forum, Dragyn?
-
off the forum...you mean in real life, or people here?
Blast...clarification needed, here!
-
Sorry. ;D
I wondered about that, but time being limitied...
People on the forum that you know off the forum, as well. :)
-
Heh... ;D
I wondere'd if that would happen. But time being limited...
People that you know on the forum, that you know off of the forum, as well. :)
-
There are 9 of the current 18 who I know personally...exactly half.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Who're they?
Or would you rather not say?
-
(whistles cheerfully in the corner, confident that no one here knows who she is in real life)
-
I could finally get on the forum!
It took a while...
Oh...
Well, um... hi lady Arcblade. ': D
I was afraid that'd happen.
It's just that, I thought Arcblade was a guy name...
-
(chuckles) Read my post on the poll. I don't mind.
-
I know I'm starting something totally different here, but....I can't get to the main page. Is it Xepher that's acting wonky or did something else happen? O.o
-
Beastling page = brokeded. No joke, folks, this ain't good.
-
The page is back..but now it's just a bunch of codes or something. O.o That is weird. >.>
-
Same here...
I thought it was just my computer, but then it did it again, again and again when I came here after I completed my gmail, where I read this.
I've no clue what's happened...
-
Sorry folks!
What happened is as follows: Xepher updated his server to a newer, and better, one. In the move, the php scripts either got corrupted, or something (a password or something) else got mixed up. As ya'll probably know by now, I have no internet at home, so I didn't even know 'till right now.
When I get a chance (prolly tomorrow) I'll copy the files to a CD, take 'em where I can access the in'net, and see if I can sort it out.
Bleh. Hate it when these things happen, but I'll figure out what's up.
Sorry!
-
It's fine. :)
It's not a new one, so we're not freaking out 'cuz we can't see it, or something. ;D
How often do these things happen?
-
S'okay, Dragyn. Don't panic. ^_^
-
Yarg and Blargh!
I had to ditch the blog-like thing. Couldn't fix it, for the life of me. Blasted thing was riddled with errors and such. I'll see if I can fix it, working in a different file. If I can't, I'll just have to replace it.
Blargh, I say again!
On a rather more upbeat note, I have internet at home again! Yay!
And now, I'm off to see about the PE site...wish me luck.
-
Site up! Yay! Blog thing down, boo. Rewrite from scratch?
Good luck, Dragyn.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Well, that's fine.
It's just one Blog-like thing, that is fixable... right? ':)
And you've got the Internet at home again!!! ;D
Well... I have to go to class... :P
See ya' later, then. :)
-
Woo-hoo. ^_^ I was concerned it might've gotten hacked or something..I guess all these years spent on forums kinda got me paranoid about that. XP Oh, well. It's good that's all it was, though. Ooh, and yayers for having internet again. =3 Too bad about the blog-like thing, though.
-
Oh my goodnes gracious!!!
I'm a jabberwalkie!!!
Okay, so I don't actually know what a jabberwalkie is, I just think it sounds like it talks a lot...
I didn't know how much I'd talked, to earn that extra star and new title, when you told me, Dragyn! I don't know why I didn't guess that, but...
Gee that's a lot of talk!
-
It's Jabberwocky. And it is awesome.
----------
The Jabberwocky, by Lewis Carroll
"'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought
And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."
-
Alas, poor Jabberwock. I never knew thee.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Hm... well, I don't think I gnash or burble, or have claws... not lethal ones, anyway. Just the fingernails people sometimes refer to as claws.
Also, I think my head is still attached to me shoulders.
But, oh well, might as well go with it...
Roar!!! Run away, I'm the terrible jabberwock!!!
When was that made, anyway?
-
Dunno, but it's public license now. I found the whole poem online.
-
Hm.
Well it's certainly an interesting poem. ;D
And I feel kinda silly for saying I was a jabberwocky, now... :P
Am I going to get stupid points for that? ::)
-
Ah, but do you have eyes of flame? >_>
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I must've left that out, by accident... ;D
Uh-oh!
I've gotta' get!
(Timing = my mother getting really angry at me and sicking the real jabberwock on me.)
-
Run for it, Faith!
Beware the Jabberwock!
EDIT: To wander back in the general vein of the topic; next update is sketched. Now, I just have to scan it in, clean it up, and all that.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
All right! Can't wait to see it! ;)
Gr... that happens a lot...
Gotta' go, this time, 'cuz the bell rang. :P
Well, see ya' later, then. :)
-
A'right, scanned in and started.
-
Great. ;D
You got a new server? Which one?
-
Quote:A'right, scanned in and started.
Yayness.
You didn't see me here >_>
-
Not I, but Xepher got a new server-box.
'kay, I saw nothing of Spookty.
-
Ah... I feel brilliant. :P
Oh, well, I haven't seen spookty, but I choose to say hi to her for some random reason, anyway. :)
Hi Spookty!
-
I'm gonna' double post, so that this can be acknowledged... sorry.
I can't see the ads, at the bottom of the screen. I was gonna' look for yours, Dragyn... but they didn't show. My assumption was that it was my computer... but I still can't see 'em. :(
(You don't mind if I just call you Dragyn, right?)
-
Uh...right...call me Dragyn. "Yoda Dragyn" is temporary.
The banners take a while to load...I know they work, though.
-
It just keeps showing this irritating little red X in the upper left-hand corner of a box... :-/
-
(wonders when the next comic is coming)
-
Aha! It works, now!
Heh... ;D
I like 'em. ;)
But then, you've already heard my opinion, of the first one, so...
-
Glad you like 'em.
The comic will come...when i can. Swamped in Homework and Dentist's of late...no time at all...
-
Hope you get that figured out... ':)
How'd that dentist's appointment go?
-
Dentist...gonna' be awhile, 'fore I'm done. As is, it now hurts more than it did before...
I'll have to ask him about that...
-
Aw, gee... :(
I hope you feel better, soon.
What's he done, so far?
-
He crowned the tooth that got chipped the worst...seems to hurt less today than yesterday.
-
That's good. :)
What's he doing for the rest? A few more crowns?
When do you go in, next?
-
I dunno' what else. Next appointment is the 7th of Jan.
-
Hm...
So only one tooth needed a crown?
-
Would seem so...back to Beastling
Good news, and bad news.
Good news: I know exactly what comes next, and the next strip should be up sometime this weekend/next week.
Bad News: I've not a clue what comes after that. I'm gonna' drop Beastling into a hiatus (that'd be a break) while I figure out where I'm going with this. I'm not stopping, by any means. PE will update, and I'll likely still work on the site(s).
There are several reasons I'm doing this:
1. I don't want to grind the comic into the ground, which is what I'm gonna' do if I keep this up
2. I want to make the next couple chapters, and whatever comes after that, as good as I can.
3. The more time I work on this, the better it will be.
Ugh...I really don't want to stop. The reasons I've listed above are the main reasons I've been updating slowly. Sure, I like to blame it on homework, and demons...er...dentists, but I'm pretty sure those things I've listed above have a lot more to do with it.
So, yeah. Beastling will update once more, drop you on a cliffhanger (sorry) and drop into a hiatus.
Pending Else, however, has a lot more of a preset plot, and the whole thing is already written out. Accordingly, that's where I'll be updating.
Again, Sorry.
-
That's a pity, but it'll be fine. :)
I like PE, too. ;)
How long, about, do you think this'll last?
-
Probably at least one chapter of PE, and maybe longer. Not sure on that, though.
-
Sad Panda.
-
Panda?
-
Yeah.. Panda?
-
Yes. Panda.
-
Huh.
Sad panda.
-
Heh.
(Poor panda...)
*Sympathises...*
-
Aw....oh, well. I certainly know how you feel in that department. :/
.... *pokes the panda* X3
-
Poor, poor panda...
But we digress. Beastling, the subject at hand, is progressing, yet. The next one is inked, just needs shaded and colored.
As for the writing, I've progressed more on that than I expected. The next couple chapters are outlined, though I'm still gonna' drop it into hiatus. I still only have a basic idea, and I don't want to leave any plotholes to fall into. By the looks of it, Beastling's run is gonna' be about 2x as long as that of Pending Else.
Whoo, boy...what have I gotten myself into?
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
About how many more chapters, roughly, do you think are left, in Beastling?
-
I'm not sure, yet. At least 5...probably more. I'm guessing 10+, though. Like I said, it's not done, yet. Hence, hiatus.
-
Hm... how many chapters, do you think, are in PE?
-
1 prelude, 9 chapters, and an epilogue. They're already outlined.
Though...shouldn't that have been under the PE thread?
-
O.o
Woops...
It was just similar to the current conversation, sorry... ':)
Oh!
This hiatus will give you good time to prepare for that '100 updates picture,' if you're still thinking about doing it. ;)
(Five more updates, and all... ;D )
Do you still intend to do that?
-
Huh?
Oh...right. I dunno'. We'll see.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I'd forgotten about it, until just then.
And, from your reaction, you had, too. ;D
-
Indeed I had.
-
Heh. :D
Will you get to make a Christmas picture in time for the holiday, do you think?
-
Pending Else's Christmas image...may or may not already be up.
I uploaded a wallpaper, sort of a Christmas vibe to it, but not really...look in the extras of PE, you'll see.
I'll probably make a Christmas image for both sites, Beastling and PE, just 'cuz. We'll see, though.
-
Oh, so you have! ;D
I recognize that!
Heh... :D
A' right, then. ;)
Is PE the only project of yours with a language of it's own? I wouldn't be surprised, it's probably really difficult to make a language. O.o
What with all the grammar/language rules, and what not...
-
The runes I use appear in many things I've got involving Symmetraxis, not just PE. It is, however, the only language I've written...so far.
-
Heh. :D
So shall I expect others, eventually, in other projects?
Will you make up more than one for a single project?
Was it fun, making your own language?
Did you purposefully make some, in your language, look similar to what they are, in English?
Which one, do you imagine in this story, was first to originate, or are the similarities without reason?
(I analyze things, too much... ;D )
Later:
Heh... ;D
Repetition; NOW!
-
Hmm...
Repetition; NOW! has been there for about a week, now...
Not sure what you mean by the "first one." The first what?
As for more languages: probably. It was fun, and it's a constant process.
-
Hehehe... ':D
Well, I guessed it'd been there for a while... I just had been meaning to look at it, and saw it, then. ':)
I meant the first to originate.
'Cuz, when languages have letters that look similar to those of another language, it usually means that they were, partially, derived from that other language. I wondered which it was to have had those letters, first, in your story... the English language, or your made-up one?
(Here I go, analyzing pointless things, again... chances are, you didn't really consider it, did you? Heh... sorry...)
-
The resemblances are incidental. Neither one had them first.
Though, as for which language came first...well, that's more complicated than I feel like explaining. Maybe another time.
-
Heh. :D
If you don't mind my asking... will a Christmas picture be expectable?
-
Hmm...apparently not. Many things have come up, including apartment hunting, schedule planning, and assorted mayhem. Hence the delays in about everything I've been working on...
-
Well, that's all right. :)
Do you know, a bit more, about being able to update while away?
Later:
Yay for the update! :D
You had to make the suspense-thing, so now I'll be wondering what's gonna' happen through the whole hiatus. >.<
Meh; it wouldn't be as good, without. ;D
Does the symbol on the portal have a particular meaning?
Yup, more of my weird questions. :)
-
Look at the portal symbol closely. I think you might manage to figure it out for yourself.
As for updating: I have no clue.
-
Hm... it doesn't seem familiar...
So, either I don't remember, or it's something that should be obvious, through hints, or some such... :-/
-
Just compare it to other symbols, and you might figure it out.
Oh yeah...I updated, by the way. There's colored shading, and a swirly background. Have fun.
-
Heh. :D
...
*Sigh...* >.<
Where would it be?
Might it be one of the ones in the earlier Beastling updates?..
I don't like being dumb...
-
Compare it to the symbol around Beastling's neck...
-
That's it!?!
It looks different...
I thought that was the one at the bottom, were the page-jump thing is...
Did it change, since?
-
Heh..I would have never noticed that, had I not zoomed in on my PSP. XP
-
On your PSP?
Huh... that thing does a lot of stuff... >.<
-
It's a different version of it.
Minor note, here: The prev/next buttons use the symbol on Beastling's medallion. They just cut it in half.
-
I was thinking about the whole one, next the link to the first update. :)
Well then... now I know something new... ;D
How long, about, until we find out what that means?
-
Hehehe.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
Okay. :P
Ramjik's method for dealing with stress is amusing... ;D
Is Ramjik particularly young, or is he an adult?
(I was wondering... I said something about Ramjik being an adult, when my Mom said he was a flaming baby... >.< )
-
His age is relative. He's probably a bit older than Beastling, but he's younger than Dante.
-
Hm...
Well, however old he is, he wasn't supposed to be a flaming baby. >.<
-
Obviously.
-
*snrk* XD
I needed that giggle today, Faith.
-
Yer' welcome. ^_^
Heh... then Dragyn said it was cute... >.<
;D
Aw, the cute flaming baby! :P
I should put <Not a flaming baby> under the picture... >.<
-
Hehe...maybe so. XD
-
*Considers...*
Oh, and just because I didn't say anything about it doesn't mean I didn't notice- hahahas at the "(I'm done now.) (Really!!!) (Okay... this time.)" ;D
-
<font color="Blue">!!!?!?!?! a <div style="width:300px; filter:glow(color=red,strength=2)">burning baby</div>??? [img]http://beastling.xepher.net/images/forum/ramjik.gif" alt=">:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>???
i think she was being figurative about his attitude or something... which doesn't make sense either...
anywho, hey everybody!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D it's me! the dude you've never seen or heard of before and i've come to chat about Beastling!
i've read the entire comic so far and i've got lots of questions for Dragyn but i'll take this one post at a time ;)
first off: what i'm really stumped at is when Beastling goes all weird on Ramjik and suddenly know him and what he did after/during the crystal ball insident... didn't really get that 'cause as soon as that passed, they inroduced them selves
P.S: i was with you on the buildings Faith. I also though they were changing... i wasn't really paying attention i guess...
^.=.^ i like using dragon smileys</font>
-
Salutations, and Welcome to the forums, first and foremost.
As to the "crystal ball incident," most of that will be explained. It's more confusing than was intended, but it was meant to be at least a bit.
As for the buildings: I just can't draw them that well, so it's more my fault than any of ya'lls.
-
actually, it doesn't look like the buildings are changing. there is what looks like a growing green light and i could tell the were walking... i just kinda took Ramjik seriously... i do that sometimes ^.=.^;
but, to avoid starting another two page thing about the buildings, i'll just say you are forgiven and we'll leave it at that
in other news
how's this hiatus going? you getting ready to start up again, or are things still hectick over there? where ever there is...
-
Hiya'.
Yup... a burning Ramjik baby... XD
(Long story short, I was trying to draw Ramjik, and my Mom saw it, and though it was a burning baby. I've had really bad experiences trying to draw Ramjik... and they somehow manage to make people laugh...) ^_^ :P
-
A'right, let's move on, then.
The hiatus will continue, I'm afraid. I've solved most of the issues that arose to bring it about, but between schoolwork, and lack of a scanner, I'm sort of limited in what I can do, comic-wise. If/When I get a scanner hooked up the one of the computers around here, then I might resume my erratic updating of Beastling, as well as PE.
Though, that's a pretty big If, and an equally unreliable "might."
-
Heh...
Pity. I wish I could help, some how.
-
Not to worry. I've a scanner available to me, I just need to get some cables to hook it up, and bring it down here.
-
cool! i can almost smell the next update!
but please, take your time... i know how frustrating schoolwork can get
-
...
How can you smell it? It doesn't even physically exist, at present, so I sort of have to doubt your claim...
EDIT: As an aside, I'm considering making a couple smaller, easier (and therefore faster) comics, mostly non-canon, to tide you over 'till the next real update is done. Any opinions on that?
-
well dragons have an extraordinary sense of smell, and sense in general
so i guess, to make my claim more politically correct(... or more correct in whatever way would be more believable to you), i should say i can almost "sense" the next update
there, happy?
-
No, no. I smell it, too. Sort of minty..and chocolatey. =D
Heh. Yeah..I know how frusterating not having a scanner can be. Ever considered a graphic tablet? That thing's pretty much made everything about digital drawing easier, even to the point where I sketch digitally, too. There's some pretty good priced ones..probably not as good as Wacom, but they all do the same thing.
Well..I look forward to comic works again, when you do get around to it. ^_^
-
I'd considered one, once. With no income, though, that's sorta' out of the question. Besides, I'm actually getting pretty good at sketching things with the mouse.
On another note, I may have access to my usual scanner, this weekend. If so, I'll see about sketching and scanning some things, then.
Mint chocolate, huh? Interesting...
-
Heh...
Mint-chocolate updates...
Like scratch-and-sniff, but on the computer?... O.o
Yay, for updates! :D
Well, I'd try the chat with Fox, but I've gotta' go... (being timed is no fun...) :P
-
... i don't know what you guys are talking about...
Mint-Chocolate updates?!? O.=.o
they totally smell like Ice-Cream and Sushi!
-
They better not smell like sushi at all. I have a remarkable distaste for anything pertaining to fish, or seafood. Tuna is tolerable, but that's about the extent...if it smells like sushi, someone's been getting into my work...
Seriously, though--the next update is all sketched out, and I've inked and colored one panel--lots more to be done, but at least I've made headway.
-
*sniff, sniff*
^.=.^; oops... that was just some wasabi on the corner of my lappy (laptop)
*sniffs again*
ok, yeah. it was the wasabi. now it smells like ice-cream and *ssniiiiff*... horse radish
-
Teen Titans reference, by any chance? (ice cream + sushi)
Woo..headway! =D
-
...horseradish isn't my forte, either...
Well, I have access to a scanner, here, but I left the rest of my art supplies at the apartment...whoops.
Ah, well. I can draw on printer paper, failing all else.
-
*Laugh!!!* :D
I find the discussion of the smell of an update very amusing... ;D
Yay for updates! :)
When do you think it'll be up?
-
@fox
terra: "tastes like... sushi mixed with ice-cream. got any more?"
star fire: "i shall cultivate the fungis!"
yeah, teen titans reference
-
Hey, er... is there any reason the update might look like this, to me?
At firtst, I just thought it did this because it was loading, but, today, just to make sure, I let it load all the way, and it came out still looking like this:
(I hope you don't mind my copying it, just to make this point... I figure it barely even looks right as anything thing, as it is...)
-
Looks kind of like what happens when you scroll down while it's loading. It looked right on my computer..so I'm not sure what else to tell ya'.
-
Yeah... I don't think that did it, though... and it's not like that at school... but it does that at home... every time I open it...
PE doesn't do it, either...
Does anybody have any clue as to what happened?
I wonder if all the Beastling updates are like that, to me... hold on...
Well, none of the past ones look like that, it's just that one, no matter what I do. :-/
-
Huh....that is odd, indeed. Hope it's not a virus or spyware....
-
......! quick! get the GEEK squad!!!
-
Heh...
Hm... do you think it's likely that spyware or viruses would do that?..
-
Nope. That happens if a file doesn't load completely, and get's put into the cache that way. Clearing your browser cache (also known as deleting you temporary internet files) should let it reload properly, and keep it from looking like that.
Spyware wouldn't even change the look of the image, it'd be nested code. Besides, Xepher maintains constant checks to make sure nobody accidentally brings some adware/spyware/badware to the server, so I'm pretty sure he'd have told me if there was--not that I think it could have gotten there, since only he and I can access said files...
Regardless, yeah. Clear the browser cache and try again. If that doesn't fix it, I'll look at things on my end.
-
Oh, good, I already just did that... ;D
Well, thanks - now I know what's going on, which is a great aid... :)
(Now I know what it means...)
Does that happen everytime it does that?
-
Huh? It'll happen anytime a file gets cached as complete when it isn't, if that's what you mean...
-
so THAT'S why it does that
you just helped two people Dragyn
i've been to sites that do that and now i know how to fix it ^.=.^
-
Heh! :D
Well, thanks. ^_^
It bothered me... :P
And, now I know what to do, in any similar situation...
It was weird... the slides before it weren't bad... but it was...
Why was that, do you know?
-
It's just the way browser caches work. It's imperfect, but useful nonetheless.
-
Heh. :)
Well, thanks for the help in figuring it out. ^_^
