Whee! XNA port of Zombies. Pretty much, this means that it will run on Windows, and only windows, but that I get access to a much more powerful engine.
Download the archive here (http://canonfodder.virmir.com/games/Zombies/Zombies1003.rar), then run either the setup.exe or the application manifest file. Either one will work.
Then you run the file off the Start menu.
During the installation, it will download and install the XNA runtime redistributable if you don't already have it, so no separate file to hunt down. On the downside, Microsoft gets to put their fingers into it and put in a meaningless EULA. Bleh.
EDIT: You can also get the XNA 3.1 redistributable here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=53867A2A-E249-4560-8011-98EB3E799EF2&displaylang=en)
EDIT: Updated to match the newest download link.
EDIT: Smaller files available:

Hm...
I have two problems.
Here (http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p292/Faith39_2006/Miscellaneous/ErroronDownload.jpg) is a picture of them. :P
The one on the bottom is what happens when I try to open the Speedy PC bit. Maybe the one on top, which is what happens when I try the Zombies folder, is a result of that?
Is there something that would work for my computer...? XD
-
I know Zombies runs in a 64 bit environment, as one of my test bed computers is 64 bit.
The "invalid .zip" thing looks (to me) like it's not finishing downloading properly. Blood or Legion might know something I don't, though.
I'll have to look into the rest of it. I have no idea what "SpeedyPC" even is.
EDIT AND INFO: Speedy PC is malware! Yay!
You should really look into running AVG, Malware Bytes, Spybot: Search and Destroy, or some other sort of anti-malware.
Seriously. Get rid of it.
-
Huh.
Oh, fun. :P
I wondered why it was talking about that... XD
Okay, will look into that.
-
Is there any way that this trojan virus has infected your upload, boss?
If there's a virus embedded in our products, we need to find all instances and purge them before it spreads.
We don't want to lose more files than strictly necessarily, after you worked to hard to create them.
It looks like a pre-existing problem with the test machine, but we can't take chances, in our current position.
-
Yeah. I double checked it, re-uploaded the file, and had Xepher do a scan to top it off. I'm pretty sure it's clean.
-
That's good.
Did anyone actually manage to install and play Zombies XNA?
I'd be interested to hear what you thought of it.
-
I would also be interested in this information.
-
I'm trying... but every time I try sorta' seems to fail. T.T
-
This is valuable information.
What exactly goes wrong?
-
I think we figured out that it was that I didn't have one of the required things for it to run. So everytime I attempted to play it I got an empty window. :P
But I should be able to fix that sometime, later...
-
almost every time I try to download it gets to about 2 MB and quits then says that the file is either corrupt or invalid I have the jre 6U20 the xna 3.1 and the .net frameworks 3.5 which all took FOREVER TO DOWNLOAD and the game itself should only take about 4 hours
Now I got it to 6.7 MB and im still trying but its only getting a little bit of progress at a time this is my 4th try in 12 hours
-
Yeah. You're not the only one who had that problem.
If the currently proposed solution works, I'll post it here. Failing that, I might just burn it to a disc and send it to you that way.
Unrelated aside: You didn't need the JRE to run the XNA version. You would need the other 2, and anything that runs in Java will need the JRE anyway, so I don't think it'll hurt for you to have it. Just wanted to make sure that's clear.
-
HAH I finally got it it works and thanks for the extra effort Dragyn Its kinda driven Tiffany mad that ive been online so much trying to download the game but I got I played it and its really good for a top view game which have never been my strong point
-
Well, I'm glad to know that worked.
For future reference, if anybody has trouble getting the Zombies download to finish, the solution we got to work is that I split the thing into a bunch of smaller, easier to download files, which, if needed, are found here.

And here's a new release of Zombies. If you already have it, and you aren't hurting for Hard Drive space, I wouldn't download the new version, since the only difference is that I compressed the music files.
You can download it Here (http://canonfodder.virmir.com/games/Zombies/Zombies1003.rar).
If anybody needs it, I've split this up into smaller files:
Part 1 (http://canonfodder.virmir.com/games/Zombies/split/ZombiesParts.part1.rar)
Part 2 (http://canonfodder.virmir.com/games/Zombies/split/ZombiesParts.part2.rar)
Part 3 (http://canonfodder.virmir.com/games/Zombies/split/ZombiesParts.part3.rar)
Part 4 (http://canonfodder.virmir.com/games/Zombies/split/ZombiesParts.part4.rar)
